Atlanta Braves 36 68

It looks like a top 4 pick is a lock for Atlanta.

We will truly get a good feel after this tough stretch vs. PIT, STL, and WSH is over towards the end of August.

5 game lead.

Atl 37-69
Min 42-64
TB 42-63
Arz 43-63
Cin 43-62

I mean, the #1 pick is getting close to a lock at this point. We would have to put up something close to a .500 record from here out to realistically have a chance to move out of that spot...and that is not happening.

Those bottom teams just traded off some of their best assets as well, so they could quickly go on a 8-loss streak. Tampa Bay's beginning to make me nervous. If Arizona passes us as the worst in baseball, then the Miller-Swanson packed deal will take on an ever-increasing lopsided stench for those poor Diamondback fans.

I think the team who has the best chance to overtake the Braves for the worst record by end of year are the Rays. Yes, they are a much better team than the other four contenders for worst record (best run differential) BUT there schedule the rest of the way is brutal. I think they only have five remaining games versus teams with a losing record. For comparison, the other four teams have 15+ games remaining versus losing records.

I think it's ours to lose, but Tampa could give us a real run. We have a tough September staring at us playing three contenders in our own division that may seal the deal for us.
