FRI MINORS Championships: ROME WINS; Gwinnett eliminated

Just bummed that Mississippi bats have gone cold. I still think this team can real off 3 wins in a row.

Rome just throws so many good pitchers at you. what a game for Touki. Just like Ellis and Fried.. saved his best performance for the playoffs.
 
DANG. I've been so busy that I missed Touki's performance. I can't believe we got this kid for Phil EFFIN Gosselin and a little bit of money. Amazing.
 
Touki Toussaint, rhp, Braves. Toussaint, who pitched in relief in his previous outing, on Tuesday was back to starting and dealing, throwing eight strong innings in low Class A Rome’s 6-1 win over Lakewood (Phillies) to even their South Atlantic League championship series at 1-1. Toussaint rebounded from a rough first half to go 2-3, 3.38 with 86 strikeouts in 69.1 innings in the second half, thanks to some mechanical adjustments that include shorter arm action.

Miss. has been a streaky team this last month. hopefully Weigel will dominate to get them going. I think one win, really one lead in a game could spark that team to do great things. Even if Rome and Gwinnett take their respective titles, I will be bummed if Mississippi falls short. I have been on this teams bandwagon all season and I have adopted them as my favorite team this year.

They also made a very fitting comment on Newcomb that pretty much sums him up perfectly:

I generally agree about Newcomb but I think this is why relying solely on an article's description is not warranted. Newcomb was actually more in the zone than described - he was just squeezed on several pitches which led to more than one BB. Yes, he's absolutely had control issues in the past and I'm not saying he's over them - I'm just saying he wasn't as erratic in that particular game as the snippet makes it sound. I'm still betting high on Sean.

one of his walks was intentional too.
 
The last time the Braves system had 4 of the 6 teams in their respective playoffs was 1989. Two years later, the Atlanta team was in the World Series.

I know I keep saying it, but I don't understand why the Dbacks gave up on him so quickly. I know it's always hard to say like it's nothing, but he COULD be our best pitching prospect.
