2016 Election Coverage: Aka Every Way You Look at it You Lose.

This is critical to understanding the results. Well put.

To add on, the past two years of this campaign, the middle class white voters have been identified as racists, privileged, ignorant, homophobic, misogynists, and uninformed. This was HRC's message to them. In a lot of ways, their support of Trump was simply a protest to that.

I agree with much of what you're saying. It's been a rough 16 years in politics (although the nastiness goes back further by at least a couple of decades) and the parties need to win and lose with more grace and respect to the supporters of the other side.

I don't think Trump would go in that direction. I think he'll nominate someone with the same views but not a Culture Warrior rock star. There's a ton of those types out there.

Trump is loyal to those loyal to him since the establishment didn't help him. All of his surrogates will have a job. I want him to say f u to the establishment.

You may want to put yourself in their shoes. They certainly have a right to be disappointed. Shame on them for wanting to work for something they believe in.

You know how most people just roll their eyes at high schoolers problems? Because you know they really don't matter and are completely unimportant in the grand scheme of life? Well that's now moved it's way on to college with the way these kids act. They're selfish little vindictive pricks that think the world should revolve around the little bubble they deem is important. They criticize white people for being racist while they themselves are racist toward white people. Especially white men. They jump all over Trump for mere comments he said while they completely ignore Hillary supporting and taking bribes from countries that persecute women and gays. They try and bully people and force their beliefs on them and then turn around and play the poor victim when it doesn't go their way. They are a massive group of white man hating hypocrites and I'm glad they're in tears over this.

I will say this, if the Hillary that gave that concession speech was the Hillary on the campaign trail, she might have won. I have no idea why she tried to be so loud and raucous on the stump. Her calm and collective concession speech was the Hillary she should have showed the people.

Definitely would have had a better chance to beat the Don.

I'm at a conference in New Orleans with a bunch of academic professionals.. They're all (jokingly) saying that theyre families are going ot be deported and nobody will be allowed in the country.

The rhetoric is so ignorant it's scary. Donald Trump is not a racist... He's just not. He's just a buffoon when he talks. For goodness sake, he married an immigrant!

I'll tell you this... the rhetoric from the tolerant left is staggeringly hateful. I'd be ashamed. They sound just like the white nationalists who they claim to hate (but they are just a much larger group)

What did you expect Sturg? Do the Bush years already escape you? The hateful rhetoric from the left started the day he was elected and didn't stop till 8 years later.

Liberals love to preach about tolerance, though they know absolutely nothing about it.

I will say this. I do understand why minorities would be scared. Trump was very offensive and didn't remotely try to appeal to them this entire election. For many of them, this is going to be a very unsettled time until Trump shows he's not actually going to do much that affects them.

That's exactly what I've been saying. They claim to be the "tolerant left" and then the claws come out and their true colors show when they don't get what they want. It's a ruse for them to play the victim role and once that doesn't work you start to see who is actually hateful, racist and sexist.

Neither side has been particularly tolerant of the opposing outlook recently. Perhaps it's natural, but regardless I'd shy away from such quick tu quoques when it comes to intolerance.

Disagree. His rhetoric was always misconstrued to sound worse than it actually was... Trump isn't a racist.

He's one of the first Republican candidates I can remember who actively reached out to minorities to try to appeal to them - specifically black inner cities. He did much better than Romney with black voters, and also beat him with hispanic voters.

Yes, some of his rhetoric was crazy on its surface, but a rational person could decipher the underlying message. It was just too easy for political opponents to scream "RACIST! SEXIST! XENOPHOBIC MONSTER!"

Van Jones is a perfect example of this! Racist mother f*cker would have been vilified by the media for the things he said if it was a white man saying it about a black man. But because he's a black liberal he gets away with it.
