David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that the Braves are still in the mix for free agent backstop Jason Castro.
The Rays seem to the the club that is pushing hardest to sign the 29-year-old, though he reportedly has multiple offers on the table. Castro hit just .232/.309/.390 with 11 homers and 32 RBI in 376 plate appearances in 2016.
Well, I guess if you're going to get in to a bidding war it's best to do it with the Rays.
I'm not sure why we're so hellbent on filling the catcher spot so early. I'm guessing we plan on trading high on Recker as well as Markakis in other deals. (with the new catcher being a veteran clubhouse guy)
