1968: Johnny Bench is named NL Rookie of the Year.

1971: The Indians Chris Chambliss is named AL Rookie of the Year.

1972: Johnny Bench wins the NL MVP.

1977: The Expos Andre Dawson wins the NL Rookie of the Year.

1977: The Yankees sign Goose Gossage to a six year deal worth $2.75 million.

1978: The Tigers Lou Whitaker wins the AL Rookie of the Year.

1982: Steve Sax becomes the fourth straight Dodger to win the NL Rookie of the Year award.
