HOLY CRAP! White Sox got Moncada, Kopech, and TWO other prospects for Sale... we could have not come CLOSE to that.

Edit: Sorry, didn't see this in the meetings thread... thought it was monumental enough for its own... that's an insane haul. Red Sox will regret that.
 
Wow...With all that money they spend to sign Moncada I am surprised they would trade him.

I'm not as big on Kopech as others are. I'm sure the other 2 prospects were legit prospects.

I'm not that big on Kopech either but he's still a huge prospect... I would say this is better than the Shelby Miller trade, but Miller was nowhere near the caliber of Sale obviously.

Yeah, it's a better return, but not relative to what was given up. This is a fair price for Sale. We got a massive steal.

I though they'd get more than that as well. It seemed like they were mostly set on the star coming back than the package.

Either way I'm glad we didn't include Swanson in any deal.

...which could turn out well or poorly. While Moncada is a monster talent and ready for the bigs, he's also still a question mark. I think it's a good gamble by the Red Sox. I would have preferred the Robles/Giolito+ package were I the WS.

If I'm the red Sox I make this trade all day. I think the White Sox undersold themselves to be honest.

All just depends on how you view Moncada. If he is an .800+ OPS guy right out of the gate, then it's a pretty good deal for them.
 
No one could top that Red Sox package. That is a tremendous package for the White Sox and Moncada could be a franchise changing talent.

I think Moncada is a star. But I know Sale is.

I don't think the White Sox win this unless Moncada is a super star or they get big time production from one other piece.
Of course the other way to look at it is if the White Sox think their window is 2+ years down the line then they trade a star now for a star later.

The pitcher they got seems like he has a good shot of being a RP.

I think this deal is low. And the Sox are ready to win now, so I like it for them.

If the Sox sell this low on Sale can we get any other pieces on sale?
 
Im not sure how people are saying it was low. There was a monster bidding war for Sale, that implies other teams would not offer what the Red Sox offered.

It's not a low price for Sale, it's about right. The White Sox don't even need Moncada to be a superstar. If he is a very good player, they got him for longer and cheaper than they had Sale.
