Felony Charges Ruin Lives

I have been thinking, even though people do stupid things, but some felonies baffle you. When you are a felon, you have no hope of getting a decent job so you will go back to hustling and committing crimes to fend for your family if you have one.

That is the problem with America, that conviction is a stigma even if you changed for the better and law abiding. Doing it at 18, you are convicted to a life just to live without making yourself better and if you are willing to go through the arduous process of being a middle class law abiding individual it is nearly impossible. I know because a few in my family are convicted drug dealers and they can't get good jobs because of that conviction at 18 years old. Twenty to thirty years of minimum wage jobs and fortunately their wives make money but you can see it that they have failure in their posture of something they did back in the 1980's.

Personally, only crimes that should be felonies is violent ones or those that fraudulent causes the misery of other people. Weed and drugs should not be felonies unless monies from a big bust is north of a set dollar amount. The nickel and dime dealers should not have something like this on their record because as soon as they get out, their ONLY recourse is to do it again because flipping burgers does not make ends meet.

Maybe they shouldn't deal drugs to begin with? Why couldn't they get a job at 16 instead of doing drugs?

Peddling hardcore drugs is and should be a felony. Drugs destroy lives. What about the people that the drug dealers get addicted to thier **** and they in turn lose thier jobs and commit crimes in order to pay for thier addiction? People are shot and killed for $20 in the weed game everyday.

Or you could not make it a crime and people won't get arrested for using and not have to resort to a life of crime because they had a dime on them.

This is one thing Obama has been fighting against.

Howcome your black leaders don't acknowledge this.

Well when he first became president, he own the whole thing and did not address the black community at all or did anything until Republicans took over, why?

Hes been wanting to reform the criminal justice system for a long time now.

And he's given out the most pardon and commutations out in the modern era.

Sorry, not good enough.

He needed to tackle the root of the problem, not handing out band-aids. He address the LGBT community, Muslims, Hispanics, but not anything for blacks. A black leader that did nothing for his own kind. We will NEVER see another black president. What if Dumpster Fire get a dialogue with blacks, which he has started and started to make inroads with them, the Dems could pretty much give up that path of votes. If I was Donald, I would do that, the ultimate spite.

This may shock you but The kids in the inner city that commit most of the homicides still won't have jobs if drugs are legal but they'll still commit crimes for drugs

This may shock you but your parroting propoganda you were raised on that is in no way based on reality or facts. The black market caused by prohibition is what causes the violence. It's not like this happened before with alcohol prohibition or anything. When you make a high demand product like pot illegal you just make criminals out of a large part of the population. It's no different than making caffeine illegal. People need their soda and coffee, your just making criminals out of otherwise honest people. There's not lot of violence in the soda and coffee business but if we made it illegal there sure as heck would be.

If winning the war on drugs was possible I would say go for it but we can't even keep drugs out of our prisons. Drugs aren't good. Alcohol and tobacco aren't good either but I don't advocate sending a SWAT team to raid your house over a beer. Pot ain't even as bad as alcohol. The states that legalized it found less people were dying because they either smoke instead of drank or smoking slowed down their drinking. Don't think your riding through moral high horse because you think prohibition saves lives. It's proven scientific fact that arresting kids at an early age significantly increases their chances of becoming a career criminal. The war on drugs is a self full filling prophecy. You blame all the collateral damage from the war on drugs on the drugs themselves and think that's proof that drugs are the problem.

Edit - and the war on drugs gets cops killed. 80k swat raids a year now. 8o% are for drug search warrants. Next time you hear of a cop die in a raid remember, you wanted this war, that cop you pretend to grieve for would still be alive if he was protecting and serving instead of raiding and pillaging.

You deserve at least 20 thanks for that. Best post I've read in a long while. A LONG WHILE.
