Wow ... apparently Yordano Ventura was the in same car and also died.

Edit: Nevermind, source corrected story. Ventura died in a seperate crash. Either way, horrible news.

I mean how many automobile related deaths even happen per day in the DR? And for both to be well known baseball players in their communities....

It might not be as much as you think. A lot of countries have far more stringent regulations on safety and thus their cars are far more cheaply made.
