He's gotta go. I hate it, but what else can we do? We are about to miss out on the World Cup with the most talented team we've ever had.

Nope to both of tem.

This was the toughest leg for the USMNT. Mexico is a better team than us. They've got all the right players at the the right ages. And the US has never won in Costa Rica and only once drew there. The odds of a loss were high.

The most talented USMNT was the 2002 group. We have some really talented players, but the problem is our "peak" players mostly suck. We've got really talented young players in guys like Wood, Brooks, etc. but the issue is that no one clearly has pushed Jones out (though IMO Kljestan has to be really close). WOod just recently pushed Dempsey out. OUr old players hung on and the "prime year" players didn't push super hard. Bradley since he returned to MLS has sucked. Basically the only great players in their prrime years are Altidore, Cameron, and Johnson.

Where the US will be back is 2022 that when the young guys like Pulisic, Hyndman, Zelalem, Morris, Wood, Brooks, CCV, Miazga, de la Torre, Horvath, Acosta, and a few other talented prospects should be of age, if they hold a 50/50 rate of success it will be exceptionally awesome.

Atlanta United have all but signed Miguel Almiron, Arsenal attempted to sign him this past summer. If MLS can poach players that top teams want, that will be great for the league.

MLS final kicks off in 25 minutes. Featuring a handful of high quality players (Giovinco, Altidore, Bradley, Lodeiro, and Morris to name a few) and 2 teams who will want to play a pretty open style of play which will hopefully lead to goals. It's on your local fox channel.

Silly season is on the way.

I'm ignoring the big rumors and talking the smaller stuff I care about. Darlington Nagbe is all but set to move to Celtic for about 4M. Green is moving to Stuttgart, Terrence Boyd may be loaned to NYRB. ANd Junior Flores may be joining celtic.

Anyone going all in on Atlanta United?

If I lived in Atlanta I would.

I have a hard one with MLS. Union were the team I used to follow when I lived at my parents, then it was NYRB when I lived in New Brunswick, now it's the Revolution in NH. But my favorite team to watch is TOronto FC who have the 2 best USMNT players in MLS. And technically Montreal is closer to me than Boston. So I could have 4 teams I can justify following.

With Atlanta I love the Falcons and Braves, but that's it.

I've never had an MLS rooting interest...I adopted Montreal for sentimental reasons, but Atlanta should be my club. I think it's going to be a fun club to follow.

Their name is dumb. But they've already started down a great path. They are bringing Guzan to MLS who at worst is gonna be the second best goalkeeper in MLS (battle with him and Howard). Garza and Parkhurst were really smart buys. Both will likely bring value way above their pay grade. Almiron is a young star that MLS usually doesn't get to bring in. He was drawing interest from Arseenal. Andrew Carleton is one of the more exciting young Americans out there. Tito Villalba could be one of the better players in MLS if he develops right. And the rumor is their third DP will be Andres Guardado, who if he does come in I have little doubt he'll be one of the best players in MLS.

Basically Atlanta may not be a playoff team first year, but they'll be really close and with some key moves will be in the next year. I would bet on them making the playoffs first year and falling short before a much better run next year maybe winning it all. They're spending their money very very smartly.

It was cool to see how many people turned out for the Atlanta game. The crowd was a bit quiet but I'll give them a pass given it's their first game ever and I'm sure the supporters groups are still getting organized.

Was pleasantly surprised my Red Bulls pulled off the comeback. Did not expect that after the 1st half or given the circumstances of the game. I like the way Atlanta has done business coming into the league as an expansion team and wouldn't be surprised if they overachieve this season.

I was sorry to see ATL United (agree with Zito that the name is turrible) cough it up. They missed a couple of chances to tack on a second and lost their composure a bit at the end, but it was a pretty good showing overall. I think they have a great shot at a successful season.

Ibra messed his knee up so bad he's supposedly out until next January. Which makes his move to MLS all the more likely IMO. Especially with LA supposedly offering him money and a loan opportunity back to Man U.
