2016-2017 Off-Season Thread

Now tell us what you would have said if they signed him because you get mad when Coppy spends 50 cents buying a soda.

It wouldn't have been a bad signing. The Braves are just not in position to take a 7 million flyer on someone for the Pen. They have surplus of pen guys. plus you have to think Sims is headed there this year if he doesn't start hot. It still might be the best place for him.

Cajun is by far the stupidest poster here and is on ignore. Gems like his last post are why. Nothing he ever writes adds to our collective knowledge about baseball or the Braves.

Jennings might be close to signing. I hope the Braves are taking a look at him for the 4th OFer rather than Bonifacio (barf).

I am not betting anything significant, but I doubt Boni is anything more than AAAA emergency filler at this point. I think the FO is going in to spring hoping Micah wins the job.. but I am not opposed to bringing in Jennings as competition. Think he will get a MLB deal or MiLB deal with invite.. regardless of team.. I think he can get a cheap MLB deal personally.

Is there any reason to believe that would be an actual competition? Do we have any reason to believe Micah Johnson can play CF?

Well outside of him not being a RH hitter... I think he could perform well as a back up OF.. even CF. but the whole not being a rightie thing kills that.

Not to mention that he's about replacement level or lower as a hitter as a leftie.

It is nice to have your 25th man be better than replacement level, but for this team it is not necessary. I think rolling the dice with a few new bloods is not a bad thought. However, he doesn't fit our need with Jace on the team.

i would rather roll the dice with those types of players in AAA...I believe he has an option left

he does and again, I have no argument for Micah.. he is not who I thought he was anyway. But a guy like Rio.. basically our 24th or 25th man. I think it is time to see what he can do. sure maybe have him start in AAA, but at some point we need to know. I would rather roll out with our strongest 25 men next year and not have any 'see what we have' types really.

Rojas' OPS vs LHers the last few MiLB seasons:

2016 - .698
2015 - .560
2014 - .853
2013 - .730

I truly hope the Braves can do a better job filling the 4th OFer slot.
