Too bad we are rebuilding

Outside of Colorado and Washington, who have bullpen issues of their own and just lost Eaton, nobody in the NL looks like a playoff team. Cubs will probably be there, but the NL is wide open like it hasn't been in years. Cubs pitching is a mess, LAD, SF, Stl, Mets all have problems. Anyone buying Arizona long term? If we just had an above average team we could make the wild card fairly easily this season.

Like I've said before on here....

Offensively and position player wise.... we are ready to compete now and can hit with any team in the league... but pitching wise this team is a joke. The offense will have to score 5-7+ a night to win.

You realize the reason the offense looks good is Freddie, Kemp and FLowers playing out of their mind? Flowers a career .240 hitter is hitting almost .400. He's also striking out 10 points lower than his career normal and his BABIP is .512. Which is asinine. Freddie is a god and our best player, but he's not gonna stay this amazing all year. His numbers right now are basically Barry Bonds on PEDs. Kemp is the least drastic of the group, but he's seeing a 10 point rise vs. his career in HR/FB, most guys don't hit 32 and all of the sudden realize their power potential.

To address OP, the NL has been struggling, but someone will start kicking. It will probably be the Cubs and Dodgers. Baseball is a long season, and we're only 1/6 of the way through it.

Flowers, Kemp, and Freddie are not the only reasons the offense is doing well. Hell Kemp has missed near half the season so far.

Nick the Stick, Phillips, and Inciarte have all hit well so far this season. Not as well as the aforementioned players obviously, but they've each been good hitters so far. Having 6 above average hitters will make any offense look good.

Inciarte and Markakis aren't above average. 2016 league average wRC+ for a CF was 99, for RF was 101. Which puts Inciarte's 88 well below and Markakis's 103 right around. I thought about mentioning Philips but figured he was not overachieving by truly that much, seemingly the difference is BABIP and park factors. Given that Atlanta is a newer park, who knows how it will wind up shaking out.

inciarte's overall numbers are not great now. But it seems like when he is going well we put up runs. When he does not we do not.

He started off really badly this year.

Markakis is what he is. He's like the poster boy for ok. He should be hitting 2nd though and our manager is an idiot.

Personally OK with him hitting behind Kemp since that maintains the L-R-L-R-L-R thing. Certainly wouldn't argue with anyone who'd much rather see Dat Dude hitting in front of Freeman rather than Adonis though - at least until the point that Dansby gets more comfortable up there (however long THAT takes).
