How hard is wood throwing?
He's averaging 93.1 on his two-seam fastball which is the highest it's been since it was 93.8 in 2013 when he came up. Apparently it was an arm slot issue.

Wood really looked stiff while with the braves. Wonder if the Dodgers did something to help soften him up?

I saw Wood early '16. He had his velo back then. Not sure about the armslot, could have been, I suppose. There was clearly an issue late in his Atlanta tenure; I assumed it was injury related.
He's a damn good pitcher when he's that hard. The Olivera deal becomes an even more pitiful screwup if Wood stays up.

Ironically, this dates back to the big three era.
I REALLY would have hated to see Wood go in any trade, but especially who he was traded for. In general...I'm not a fan of trading prospects unless it's for a STAR and you are one player away (like the Red Sox with Sale). Most of the time, you end up killing your future. Here is a clip from a guy many wanted last year and many STILL want us to sign in the offseason. I am glad we didn't last year and I hope we stay away in the offseason:

The highest regarded prospect in both of the Rangers’ recent blockbusters and their top prospect since Joey Gallo, Brinson’s glove ensures him a spot in centerfield one day. If his bat comes along, then he could be a power-speed star in the likeness of Mike Trout or prime (dang, already?) Andrew McCutchen.

Holy hyperbole, Batman.
Agreed...I didn't write it lol. The point being, the Brewers helped their future, the Rangers hurt theirs. Probably seven out of ten times...that's what happens. The best time to trade is at the deadline when contenders are desperate.
Oh, I agree. Who did the write-up? That's the kind of line that makes you question everything they put out.

Yes I agree. The thing with the Astros, they didn't try to blow smoke up the fans rear ends. They said we are rebuilding and we will be bad. The Braves have done fine with the rebuild, but it could have been better with less fence straddling.
