Two scoreless for Sims. One hit, one walk, four strikeouts. He allowed the walk on four pitches with two outs in the second and then went 3-0 to the next batter but came back to strike him out.

About time for Colon to "pull" some fat and hit the DL. Sims and Newk both ready for the show. Especially Sims

Development is certainly not linear.

In his case for sure, assuming he can maintain this. But he's had awesome 7-8 game stretches before in AA before falling off the rails. Hopefully the improved control is real, he's always had excellent stuff when he could control it. Would be a nice boost if he could come up and be a solid mid rotation guy (with a shot for more).

Agreed. It for me it means more because of the level and the low walk numbers. He's at least entered into the conversation as a guy that needs to be given 30 starts in the big leagues.

For next year we have Teheran / Folty /Sims/ Newcomb. Because of the youth I would say Dickey will be retained.

I get the feeling Sims is a guy who struggles his first go around at a level. So I fully expect him to struggle in the majors. I just hope we don't give up on him quickly if he does... because his raw stuff is filthy and there are some real signs that he's finally getting it

Agreed. I really didn't like how they handled Blair last year, I hope they show patience with Sims once they bring him up (like they are with Dansby right now).

I don't understand the mindset that Blair was mishandled. He has bottom of the rotation stuff. The Braves needed guys to eat innings last year so he got the call. If he were a real MLB starter he would be on the rebound in AAA this year. He is no different than Jenkins, Ellis, Gant, Povse etc that have been traded during the last year.
