5/25... going for series win vs pitt

Colon clearly has nothing left. We all knew going into this season though that one of our geriatrics was going to fall and break a hip. I had my money on Dickey.. but he has been better than I personally expected. Jamie is doing fine as well. Colon just can't get anyone off his pitches. Just sad to see such a likable guy get run over like this.

Dickey's FIP is over 6 and Garcia's is near 5. Both are awful.

The on field results haven't been that bad though. Sure it may normalize and Garcia did start out awful. But he has been better the last couple starts. Aren't knuckle ballers usually always going to out pitch their FIP? I'm no expert, I just thought I'd read that somewhere once upon a time.

Collfinger treatment for Colon?

I hope so, he brings absolutely nothing to the table...taking something from it, you have an argument. I rather see Wisler or Blair get lit up than watch batting practice straight gas can tainted fastballs get knocked around.

Yeah but not by 2 runs.

Is it just me or does colon give up a 5-spot in 1 inning and then pretty much throw up zeros in the others?

Pretty clear Colon has nothing left. I imagine once Sims/Newcombe/Wiegel show one of them is ready, they're going to the big club and Colon will get DFA'ed.

If there's one thing the Braves have never had trouble with, it's sifting through the trash heap (or relics bin) to find serviceable arms. At this point, with Colon, you'd imagine they are simply interested in recuperating a sliver of their investment, hoping he strings together enough promising starts to be packaged for financial relief, if nothing else.

Yeah, I have to think so. It might be more satisfying to our collective psyche to just DFA him, but I think he's going to get a lot of leeway to rebuild value. Shoot, he already has.

If you are looking for a live batting practice pitcher, Colon is worth the money for any team.....as long as he is only in that role.
