That would be monumentally stupid. I love Newk, but dude is not even on the 40 man roster. Let Wisler come up and compete every 5th day.. No chance he is worse than Fatolo..
Ender on fire... May be over 2fwar after tonight
Just let sims newk and Weigel simmer in AAA for the next few months. They don't need to see the big team until September call ups. Colon to pen for about a month and then cut ties. Use wizard and flair for starts until they get dfa'd or prove something. Have Meds in the hole in case you need him.
DFA'd?? If we traded some of the guys we did last year for a return, we can definitely trade Wisler and/or Blair for something. They haven't done that bad. If fact, some of most impressive trades of the Coppy era have happened with a trade or players like these.
The question is will meds for colon make the team better.
It won't make it worse and at least we have someone to route for. Colon is a one year stop gap. Fans love Meds.
Good call. That's a legit bench. Except there's no backup in CF
Well, Sims got shelled after a terrific start last night, so he's not much of an option right now. I'm guessing medlen comes up early and joins the rotation. Colon has to be moved to the BP at the very least
The latest blurb I've seen on SIms came from BP yesterday. It appears he just isn't very good, no matter what posi-Braves want to fantasize about:
"Sims can have some success with this new fastball (90-91 2-seamer) when located, and the curveball is plus, but there’s too many concerns for me to project Sims as a future starter. His arm action is short and stiff with a violent finish, the main culprit of his inconsistent command. His changeup showed average fade, but was used infrequently and not located well, projecting as below average. Sims’ appeal as a leverage pen arm was greater when his FB was in the mid-90s with a swing-and-miss curve as his out pitch. As is, the realistic future role is middle relief."
He still has the mid-90s fastball and the curve, those haven't gone anywhere.

Kemp...normalizing.
WAR...plummeting.
Santana played some CF in Minnesota. He's not particularly good out there, but he could be a stop-gap for a couple of days.
Time to move Bartolo.
