Braves Acquire Matt Adams From Cardinals

I would be fine with that.. but RF? I am ready to replace the slow, noodle arm, singles hitter.. so maybe he could hang in RF..

I know the Braves are unlikely to shift Kemp to right, but it always made more sense to me to have him there. Better arm than Muk and played mostly right in San Diego.

The plan that makes the most sense when Freddie come back is to play Adams a couple games a week at corner outfield. We might find out he is completely inadequate there (in a way that makes Kemp look like a gold glover). Or we might discover that relative to Markakis the better offense more than offsets the loss on defense. We should try to find out.

The Cards already tried this didn't they? We know he's a hack in the OF, it's the reason we got him for Juan Yepez. Putting him out there isn't going to change any of that .

Yes they did. He is a horrible outfielder. He is a 1st baseman period. He should be a starter somewhere. He should be traded if he keeps this up, because Freddie plays pretty much every game. As for him being a bench player...you really decrease his value by doing that. Better to get something decent and sign or acquire a bench player that fits what we need a little better.

they did...results were not good...but we can give him a bit more time to learn the position...im not optimistic but think it is worth trying...use him like we used doumit a fee years ago

Play Adams in CF when Colon starts. Maybe it will piss him off enough to retire and save us some money.

Putting him on the bench or playing him at a different position decreases his value. That's exactly what the Cards did and why they got wha for him. That would require us getting rid of Muk or Kemp and makes it a more lateral more.

How about move him for a like 3rd baseman or catcher ?

The Cardinals have already been through that in trying to find him a place on their roster. If he'd been even adequate, the Braves wouldn't have been able to acquire him for Yepez.

I can't imagine the Braves playing Kemp and Adams together in the corners. And it wouldn't make sense to bench Kemp to play Adams.

I think this is one of those scenarios that works better on a video game than in real life.

Cards already tried this. He was worse than Kemp. It's why he was on their bench and available for trade in the first place.

Over the last 7 days, Adams HR/FB rate has been a much more realistic 16.7%.

His line over those 7 days has been .304/.360/.478 (.838 OPS).

His career HR/FB rate of 13.8% produced a career .787 OPS.

Are we starting to see what happens as his HR rate normalizes?

Or are we seeing what 2 games in SD out of your last 5 does to your power stats?

He's had all of two flyballs in San Diego so far. Nice try.

How many fly balls has he had over the last 7 days..

and wait.. are we supposed to be upset at an .838 OPS?!? I am confused by all of this. It has a nega-brave slant but it really isn't nega-numbers.

Are we supposed to be upset at an 838 OPS? No. But isn't the whole idea of pushing Freeman to third to make room for Adams is so we now have this beast 900+ OPS hitter?

are we really going to use a 7-game sample size to draw any conclusion whatsoever?

again: only when it fits the desired narrative is this OK, apparently.

What's more realistic? Adams is suddenly one of the top homerun hitters in baseball or he had a hot run that has come back down to normalish levels over the past week?
