6/30 GDT: Atlanta Braves (37-41) vs. Oakland Athletics (35-44)

You're a whirlwind... now that RBIs don't look good for kemp, RBIs are a good measure. Earlier when it was a good stat for Kemp, they meant nothing. If you don't quit holding your nuts on kemp, you may not be able to have children later in life

You mad bro? Kemp's WRC+ ranks 11th of 22 qualified LFers and he has horrible defense. He's exactly what sane people thought he was.

ETA... I'm no big stat guy, but you think losing FF's .461 OBP in front of him, hurt kemp's RBI total? I'm gonna go out on a limb and say yes

It might have a tiny bit, but Kemp has been struggling to drive in runs all year long. I'd actually say Kemp's inability to hit with runners on base is one of the reasons that despite being in the top 7-8 of both OBP and BA for the first two months of the season we were only in the 15-17th in runs scored range. Kemp's splits for the year are as follows:

none on .328/.357/.582 .939

runners on .287/.338/.457 .795

RISP .257/.342/.343 .685

RISP 2 out .206/.308/.294 .602

As you can see, Kemp's struggles with RBI are due to him sucking with runners on base and in scoring position mostly. 8 of his 12 homers have been solo shots as well.

Again, I'm no big stat guy, but what's the difference between 129 and 124 in that stat? 129 gets him tied for 6th. I would think kemp is as low as he's been in that stat this year and I think him being injured could play a big part in that

Sure. Buy by that you acknowledge RBI is a team dependent stat and has no bearing on how good an actual player is. Which is why grownups use WRC+ as the best measure of a players offensive ability.

I said he had a big RBI last night. You're the one that brought up yearly RBI total.

The difference is 1 'hypothetical' run.

If Kemp is injured then he needs to be put on the DL. He had a 66 WRC+ for the month of June and -0.5 WAR. Beyond horrible. And if injuries had something to do with that the he's hurting the team by trying to play through it.

I said in this thread he needs to be on DL. That way he'll be ready to go 2nd half

He's hurt us in recent series, but I think they avoided putting him on the DL with the idea he can DH in the Oakland series. Then there is a day off. So 4 days to give his hamstring a chance to improve without a stint on the DL.

His defense is bad. But up until this last hamstring injury, it seemed slightly better than it has been in recent years.

I did predict his likely regression would probably be linked to injuries.

Couple of thoughts. I don't think last night was Folty's best pitched game. Strange how that works.

Second. I can't say we would have lost that game if Kemp was in left. Just like I can't say that without that extra run Kemp provided we wouldn't have won the game if he was out.

But we can definitively say Kemp is below average overall, and the team would be much better served without him sucking up payroll that could be used to acquire an actual LFer like JD Martinez.

All these Kemp apologists are pathetic homers. Kemp is a negative on this team, plain and simple.

What's the braves' record last season and this with and without kemp?

What's their record with and without Swanson?

What about without Freeman this year?

Did you really use team W/L as a way to evaluate a player? Seriously? It just keeps getting derpier in here lol.

And in this fantasy world where women speak to you, defense matters in lf, and you get to make decisions like this, how do we acquire JD Martinez?
