Thursday July 6th minors thread

Good day for Sims so far: 7 IP, 6 H, 3 ER/R, 0 BB, 8 K. 92 pitches, 68 strikes. 8 groundouts, 3 fly outs.

just turned on the G-braves. wanted to catch Ozzie's 4th AB.

Sims with a nice outing 7ip/ 6h/3er/8K/ZERO BB... in that 7th, his curve was not as sharp, but he only gave up one hit.. but it wasn't biting as hard as I have seen it.

hoping to get a few guys on infront of ozzie.. but Recker just watched 3 strikes down the middle.. bat might have been glued to shoulder.

Sims has to be my least favorite pitch prospect ever. On days like today he makes you think he could be a TOR stud. On other days, I wouldn't want him sniffing the bullpen as a long man.

How did his fastball look? Is it still somewhat flat as the scouts have said in the past?

you know it had pop.. I didn't even pay attention to the speed.. he was getting swing and miss and some tardy swings. But I didn't pay a ton of attention to all his pitches being at work. Just saw three curves that came in a bit flatter and not quite the 12/6 break.

Anyone have info on Jean Carlos Encarnacion besides what is available on the milb website? Off to a good start in GCL after so-so debut in DSL in 2016. It's always difficult to tell what is going on in the DSL as there aren't many guys who see action every day.

PS--I see Chris Johnson was a Braves-killer today. It's only appropriate because he was killing the Braves when he was playing for them.

I hope he keeps killing the G-Braves, cause he belongs in AAA..

Looks like Fried is getting a break. He last pitched the 29th, and he isn't listed as a probable pitcher on any of the games announced between now and the 9th.

He's also still listed as active on the roster, so guessing it's not an injury as of now.

I hope he gets a few weeks. Something is not right. I wish Anderson would show back up. I gotta believe if there was anything significant, that it would have leaked by now.
