7/7/17 FRIDAY MINORS FINAL ... System-wide collapse; is anyone concerned?

Overall I think the MS team is weak defensively. Ibr seen several of their games this year were weak defense has prolonged innings. Our AA pitchers are putting up good numbers with a weak defense backing them. Just imagine Allard and sorokas stats if Dansby, Albies and Camargo were playing behind them.

I agree. The one thing I've been the least impressed with watching the M-Braves this week has been the defense.

Even the out in his first at bat was hard hit. The last hit struck the pitcher it appeared around the ankle. He stayed in, but it hurt him. Everyone in the stadium went "ohhhhhh".

Acuna is as good as advertised from what I have seen this week.

I'm gonna be mad if Acuna isn't starting in LF on opening day next year.

He's 19 and has less than a year of milb at bats

Agreed about opening day 18 but I think the idea of holding him back for all of 18 and the first few weeks of 19 is out the window.

Albies will be up in August while Acuna the same in 18.

I don't think it should be done unless 3 conditions are met: 1) the player has had a solid season in AAA, 2) there is an opening at the major league level that would allow him to be a regular, and 3) the team is above .500.

However, I suspect it will happen in the case of Albies and Acuna whether or not the above conditions are met.

Is Neslony looking at a promotion anytime soon to Mississippi? I can see him being a solid 4th OF on the team in a couple of years.

It depends on payroll status, but if you have a pipeline of guys coming up, you have to do some type of staggering of call-ups or you'll hit a huge salary wall.

I fear the front office is going to accelerate a bunch of guys to pique fans' interest in hopes of filling the stadium to watch a young, exciting team (which will struggle to contend).

In the case of the guys coming up over the next few years, I think there is a sort of natural staggering that would occur anyhow. Albies is about a year ahead of Acuna. It is true that Allard, Soroka and Gohara are all at the same level. But I doubt all three of them take that final step successfully together. One or two will have some struggles (or injures) that slows them down next year. Look at what's happened to Fried and Weigel. I'm not wishing anything like that on Allard, Soroka and Gohara. But attrition is a natural part of the development process, especially for pitchers.

I don't want the young guys up too early, but it's pretty amazing how these vets fall off later into the year. Their bodies just can't handle it. Oz should be up at the deadline and Phillips should be gone. JJ and Motte and Garcia should be gone and I really wish Kemp would be also. With the Weigel injury, drafting Wright is becoming even a better decision.

Sean Rodriguez will provide an option at second. Carmargo too. But if the team is above .500 and they use him pretty much every game, I'd be ok with Albies being called up. I think he would produce more than any of the alternatives at second in the second half.

Hopefully the FO is smart enough to value the age 27 season of Acuna and Albies more than a few weeks of their age 20 season.

Of course they couldn't figure it out with Swanson, so I doubt they will properly handle those guys either.

I guess it's ok for a mid market team to give up $10M in value year after year after year.

Acuna's fourth four-hit game. He does not need to spend the rest of 2017 in AA. Just saying.

could set my clock to this.

Who goes down when Rodriguez is activated? I think Camargo has proven he can play in the big leagues although I worry about how he'll do the second time around. Santana, if and when he gets healthy, is also a handy guy to have around. If we continue to carry a million pitchers, there isn't that much room on the roster for bench guys.

Just release Adonis now.

It will be interesting for sure. I think Adonis is done..I just don't see any place for him now. I think they will have to make a trade or two to get S-rod up here. I am thinking a BP guy and older vet will go and Winkler and S-Rod up.

I would guess at full strength our bench would be Suzuki, Rodriguez, Santana and Camargo. Lane Adams and Jace Peterson would get sent down once Santana and Rodriguez are ready. Adonis probably won't be back until rosters expand.
