Austin Riley

If Albies goes I can get behind it if we get a 3 plus year control multiple war guy. I'm not going to love it but I'll get it. Just like I felt when we dealt Prado

I'd rather go for sonny gray and keep Acuna Albies allard maitan soroka and wright off the table

I'm torn with Gray. I like him and it's obvious how good he can be, but his injury his is so disheartening. Especially if we are going to give anything for him. If we go after Gray, we have to snag Doolittle in the deal.

Hopefully Coppy is just doing his due diligence and "checking in" on all availabilities. That makes sense. Hopefully the HO trade taught him what happens when you give away prospects.

Doolittle is nasty when he's on, but he's battled shoulder injuries the last 3 years now. Tha's scary

I would love a world where we get Matt Chapman back with Sonny Gray. Oakland would have to be interested in moving Semen to 3B to make room for Baretto at SS for that to happen. Healy should be their 1B not 3B.

If a trade were to go down I do beleive it would be for Gray. Pache and Camargo would be going back with pitching

Gray it at least pitching (3.58 FIP) the way he did in 14 and 15 so that is good. The injury history is troublesome though. He would only have two more years remaining as well after this year.

Yeah Doolittle is just as injury prone as Gray. And he's dealt with shoulder problems. Scary.

Agree. It's less control and more risk than Q.

So maybe you can get him without giving up anyone in the top 7. If we can get him with moving guys like Riley then I think you have to think hard about that.

Then we use Dansby and Wright to sing the Vandy song and see if we can get him to sign on cheap.

He's from Nashville. I live in Atlanta and we go to Nashville often. I'm sure he'd like being back closer to home.

As far as Riley goes I keep hearing really good things about how he's improved on D and less concerns about bat speed.

He's going to be a 3B, 1B, LF guy so the bat has got to get better. That said, the team should be making decisions off detailed scouting, not just looking at the results/stats. They've shown the ability to promote before and have guys show they were up for it.

Not everyone is going to be an Allard, Soroka or Acuna. Some people might take more time or might develop differently.

Little Jerry Seinfeld: What are the Braves doing with these aggressive promotions? Austin Riley to AA?? He’s struggling at high A. Why move up Acuna so quickly ? There’s not even a spot for him on the ML outfield.

Keith Law: Riley to AA makes absolutely no sense. That’s like the Yanks promoting Mateo after a .290 OBP in high-A. I know it’s not just about statistical benchmarks, but don’t you want to reward good performance and avoid rewarding bad performance?

Looking at splits the only thing that really improved over course of season was his Ks.

From a few reports I've read, he's made tremendous improvements on his defense. And his power numbers are still impressive. Not that it's great reason to promote him. But he hasn't been that bad
