Around MLB 2017

It was tough watching the derby last night with the sound on... the complete cock sucking of Aaron Judge was a little much to handle

(as an aside, it was a pretty entertaining derby)

He is a mega star. May turn out to be the most popular baseball player since Mantle. It's not every day you get a contact hitter with the body of an ogre, to paraphrase Charlie Blackmon.

Red Sox just dFA'ed Sandoval....if we trade Adams I wouldn't mind signing him for cheap and giving him a shot off the bench. I'm done with Adonis Garcia. And we'll have Camargo/Rodriguez at 3b mainly

Their top 3 of Gio/Stras/Max is as good as it gets but that bullpen is just really bad.

Really interested to see what Rizzo does at the deadline if he dangles Robles or not. With Harper's pending FA, and other players getting expensive or FA's soon (Rendon, Murphy, and Zimmerman getting older), their time is now.

In other news, Wood dominates again, 6 shutout innings, drinks.

Nats looking at Doolittle AND Madson per Colitto, that would be a kick in the pants for them.

Dont think it would cost Robles.

Adonis could be a decent bench piece. He can hit lhp. He just doesn't need to be starting all the time

If I'm Oakland, I only take Robles for those two. If not, hang up. In fact, I would take Robles plus some kid in A ball. This is the time to get the upper hand on these contenders.

For all his supposed smarts, Beane hasn't done particularly well at the deadline recently as either a buyer or a seller. The Shark trade has to rank as one of his worst moves.

Horrible trade. In general buying at the deadline is an expensive proposition. Fun to speculate and talk about but best avoided. Best to just window shop at the deadline or add a complementary piece or two. Do your real business in the off-season.

He has depleted their farm system... which made Wren the worst GM ever on this board

Braves system was depleted yes, but there was nothing promising down there. Cubs have some pieces, and dont need much for the forseeable future except pitching going forward.

Depleted, yes but he got them a ring for their first title in 108 years and in fairness.

They're basically set in position players for awhile with Contreras, Rizzo, Happ, Baez, Bryant, Russell, Almora, Schwarber even Heyward is still young. And always sign a FA.

But their ML team is loaded with young talent with several years of control, and they also have the financial means to retain them once they hit FA.

And he hasn't depleted it. They have talent. Not a lot, but it's there. I think the insanely talented young guys in the majors is reason enough to not be upset with him.

Have you seen Treinen pitch? He will likely end up being the best pitcher in that deal.
