I hope Sippi can get that 3rd run across. Would love for Soroka to get the win with his performance tonight.
We have something in William Contreras, brother of the Cubs' Willson Contreras.
He's now hitting .375 with 2 HR as a 19-year-old at Danville. 2-2 tonight.
Soroka...

Saw late last night that Corbin Clouse headed to Miss. After poor start to season, he has gotten back on the fast track:
ERA in April: 9.72 (7 games, 8.1 innings)
ERA in May: 0.00 (7 games, 9.1 innings)
ERA in June: 0.00 (7 games, 10.2 innings, 19 K, 2 BB)
ERA in July: 0.00 (4 games, 6.2 innings)
Scoreless streak as he heads to AA is 29.2 innings (21 hits, 14 walks, 40 K)
Oh wow.. the IronPiggies (Fallies AAA) has a switch pitcher... crazy.
Add at least another inning to that total along with 2 more Ks.. He can more than 1 inning though..
Quick, trade Garcia for him.

I know it matters little, but this year's DSL team might be the worst Braves farm club I've seen in the decade or so I've been tracking these things. Now 11-28 with two shutout losses Wednesday.
For those watching the game were the runs Soroka gave up tonight legitimate or was it because of Mississippi's poor defense?
screw the hitting.. I hope he just has the cannon like his brother.. although, I didn't know that was his brother..
Another late-rounder has emerged in Tucker Davidson (19th round 2016). Out of Midland JC, his ERA since turning pro now down to 2.10. Lefty with nasty slider was reliever last year, but went into Rome rotation and has been a beast of late:
Set aside a stumble July 12 (4 ER in 5 IP), he has not allowed an earned run in his other starts. Sturdy at 6-2, 215, could stay in rotation in long run.
Rome started lefty Tucker Davidson against Sanchez, and though Davidson couldn’t crack Atlanta's top 20 prospects, he has a good enough arm that I expect him to have some sort of major league role. Coming from a very high slot, nearly right over the top, Davidson was 91-94 mph with no movement, showing an average-ish curveball at 77-83 mph that he seemed to vary by design and a mid-80s changeup with good action. His fastball is too straight right now, which is pretty common in guys with super high arm slots. But he has the weapons to be a fifth starter even if he can't find a way to mitigate the lack of movement. Davidson was Atlanta's 19th-round pick last year out of two-year Midland College in Texas.

Of all the heralded signings from last July, only Yenci Pena (who is still 16) is playing in the DSL. The Braves have put a lot of the July 2017 signings on the team (which is somewhat of a departure from their previous pattern). Do you have any information as to what happened to Juan Carlos Negret? He was having a nice season, but hasn't been in the line-up for a couple of weeks.
Thanks SJ24 for the mention of Contreras. I didn't know he was Wilson Contreras' brother, but he put up quietly impressive numbers in the DSL and GCL. Not eye-popping, but good enough for me to consider him an under-the-radar guy. It looks like he can hit some.
