7/20 GDT: Atlanta Braves (45-48) vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (66-29)

Just watched the play on video and it's a great catch, but it looks like he misjudged it a bit and had to come back to the ball. At any rate, there are a few of us who were pimping Camargo when he was coming up through the system and it's great to see him doing well. I don't know what type of player he'll end up being, but I think he could be a regular player in the big leagues. I don't think he'll ever be a difference-maker, but with the right surroundings, he could be a productive guy. Big thing for him is that he is showing he can play SS at the major league level. That is a huge plus.

misjudged?

that's the hardest defensive play in baseball. he actually did what's super hard to do there...go out and get past the ball. usually you'll get out there and reach out, making the chances of catching it even more difficult.

Very glad Jimmy Johns held on last. I'm mostly excited because my favorite team won, but also excited because I had a bit to drink last night and bet $100 on the Braves at +195 :elefant:

Good bet. That was our best chance. Not saying we can't win others. But I liked our pitching match up last night the most.

I think the Braves showed the rest of the league how to beat the Dodgers. good pitching, better defense, and timely hitting. --channeling my inner chip..

I was never as good as Camargo (obviously), but he seemed to stay directly under the ball instead of angling to it. It is a very tough play because it may have had topspin on it which caused it to back up a bit.

Agreed. I was telling a buddy of mine who's a Dodger fan that we'd probably win last night and then lose the next 3. It was essentially our #1 vs their #4. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not terribly confident against Wood or Kershaw. Maybe we get lucky with Hill
