Before Enscheff says I'm a homer for touting Acuna as a Trout/Harper type, I will say I am very bearish on Allard, Fried, Demeritte, A-Jax, etc.

My concerns stem from the fact scouts are saying he's too small with no out pitch and velocity concerns.

I just don't get that. He's 6'1", 190, not exactly small. We've all seen his curveball, it's a thing of beauty, and his changeup generates swing-and-miss. He sits low to mid 90s. Where should we have any concern?

What scouts have questioned his out pitch? From what I understand is that he projects to have a plus plus curveball, a plus change up, and a solid fastball.
 
Guys at talking chop are Homers like me but the reports they've had provdied are very bullish on his future.

I love Allard. His performance this year hasn't changed my opinion of him 1 bit. But saying he's hasn't dominated this year isn't a lie. So I would have expected his rating on prospect boards to take a hit. Not out of the top 50, but certainly not remain in the top 30.

That's sort of my point. Obviously the prospect pundits have managed to give Allard credit for holding his own at 19 in AA, but Braves fans seem to be harsher on Allard maybe in part because we have seen so many other players who were promoted aggressively see more success.

Seems like an observation you might make based on declining K rates. But K rates can fluctuate.

Someone on here claims he talks to scouts and that's what they say about him.

I have no idea if it's true, but I don't exactly have any better sources of info to argue against him.
 
Any idea why Kopech Allard and Soroka aren't ranked closer together? I was looking at Southern League stats a few days ago and I dont see anything kopech has done to be so far ahead. Plus kopech is a year older. You could even add Gohara into this conversation.

You're just scouting the stat line. Kopech's stuff is wildly better than anyone in the Braves system...including Folty.

He may have better stuff but his walk rate is over 5 / 9 ip. He won't last in the MLB with a line like that. Unless he gets command of his pitches he will be bust.

He's also been 19 in AA all year. Literally all of that could improve, if they were indeed real concerns.

it's mostly his big fastball. And tons of pitchers come thru with big fastballs who can't control it or their other pitches. He hits 102 and people are amazed, but I prefer guys who are thoroughly dominating their leagues while younger. "Stuff" only gets a guy so far. Our guys have plenty of "stuff" and far more polish.
