Braves Call Up Max Fried, Board has Anuerysm

New theory: maybe the FO is secretly made up of agents of these players, and they're just providing promotions to line their own pockets.

is the plan to get him some ML innings/experience out of the bullpen and get him starting again next year?

I really don't like how they are handling these guys.

The service time argument is one thing, but there are plenty of other reasons this is dumb.

Why give up on him starting and stick him in the bullpen for a team that isn't contending? Why call up a guy having the struggles Fried has been dealing with this year?

The timing is curious, but it has seemed obvious for some time that Fried's future was in the pen. I think this move reflects the fact the team would rather have 3 lefties in the pen. It is more a Fried taking Krol's spot kind of move.

An interesting side issue was the decision to bypass Minter. But Minty Hippo has not been the same pitcher this year and he is not on the 40-man.

He is already on the 40 man, and older. If he indeed had blister problems that was causing his struggles...this isn't exactly mind blowing. Many people thought he would be fast tracked.

Will he be a 6th starter or in the BP would be my question.

I don't think its been obvious at all that Fried's future was in the pen, he was great starting down the stretch last year, so he struggles in the first half of this season and his future is a reliever? I don't buy that.

I'm hoping they want to get him some innings ML experience (for reasons I don't understand) and he's starting again next year.

This FO constantly makes puzzling moves with callups and promotions.

I'm assuming this is the plan. I guess the idea would be to see how he handles MLB hitters before making a decision on his 40 man status and his future with the club? I don't know.

Considering he hasn't gone more than 4 innings since mid-June, the pen seems likely.

This seems like another move is coming. Maybe someone worked out a trade for Dickey? I assume he has cleared waivers by now??

There are several other younger guys who outpitched him as starters in AA this year. It is unlikely he will turn out to be better than them. Having said that, I'd be in favor of him being more looks as a starter next year.
