Rome, after a poor start to the second half, has won 9 straight but is still only 20-18 in the second half, 4 games back.

tyler pike is averaging a walk and a strike out per inning in AA but still maintains a 4.2 ERA. those walk numbers are way up for him compared to the rest of his career.
nobody is really hitting him though, so it could be interesting to see his last month, especially if his walk numbers come down to normal.

big stikeout numbers. i don't know much about him but a scouting report from the offseason says he was hitting 95 with his fastball. they say he was known for his control and his changeup coming into the pros. keep an eye on him. he could become a little more valuable than we realize by this time next year.

Ummm... he's always had control problems. Nothing like his AA numbers but his whole minor league career he's averaged about 4-5 walks per 9. That's not good.

Josh Graham promoted to Miss. Doing a great job well under the radar: 48 innings, 56 Ks in 31 games. Only 18 walks, cut way down on wild pitches.
Advanced talent, coming from Pac 12 (Oregon) as -- lest we forget -- the fourth-round pick in the 2015 draft. Drafted ahead of him: Alllard, Riley, Soroka, Herbert, Minter, Guardado. Drafted after him (Lewis, Withrow, Weigel, Ellison, Keller, Phillips, Hellinger, Hoekstra and, oh yeah, Jonathan Morales in the 25th round.)

This this draft will stand the test of time?

I think so. The best of our last three drafts imo. Soroka and Weigel stand out as outstanding picks given where they were taken.

Kind of crazy to me that Wentz is still in Rome considering the way this front office works. I know they've generally tried to keep HS picks in Rome for the entirety of their first full season, but this is getting kind of ridiculous. Send him to Florida, especially since he'll probably start in Mississippi next year.

They always do this in Rome. If he starts well next year, he'll move fast.

Like I said, I'm aware of that. Just not really sure the point of it when he's not being challenged anymore.

They'll make up for it next year when he rockets to Atlanta by June. Just be happy for the one guy we're not shoving up the org ladder.

2-3, 2b, hr

Intriguing pick from a couple of years ago. They rushed him a bit in 2016 by leapfrogging him over Danville for the first half of the season before dropping him back to Danville in July. He was ripping it in Danville so it's good to see him moved up. I think Keller, Wilson, Ramos, and Waters were why Ventura was moved. A lot of guys are going to need ABs.
