SATURDAY MINORS FINAL 8/5 ... Rome earns 10th straight win

Intriguing pick from a couple of years ago. They rushed him a bit in 2016 by leapfrogging him over Danville for the first half of the season before dropping him back to Danville in July. He was ripping it in Danville so it's good to see him moved up. I think Keller, Wilson, Ramos, and Waters were why Ventura was moved. A lot of guys are going to need ABs.

Local kid from Crest is I remember correctly...where was he committed to in HS?

Wentz has had a very good season. He should be getting ready to be on the top 100 lists. Tonight 7.0 2 1 1 9

Does Albers get a shot?

With nothing to play for and rebuilding... I think you have to play young guys ahead of him just so you know what you have. It's a shame because he's probably earned it. Or you see if he can come up and pitch 2 or 3 solid MLB starts and pull a Lucas Harrell type trade and get value for nothing.

Frankly I was surprised when there was some pushback after I said it the first time

Too many people going off those initial reports of a sub-90 fastball I think. Gotta love that K rate and decent walk rate. Lots of promise there.

That's not what you said. Should I go look up what you said?

Pretty sure it was closer to "wentz is one of the top 25 pitching prospects in the game".

Folks scoffed at that...for good reason.

I believe my exact statement was something along the lines of he is one of the 40 best pitching prospects in the game and probably top 25. I stand by that statement. Wentz so far looks like an absolute stud and that will be reflected in every single prospects ranking publication in the offseason.

Agreed. For some reason people think 19 year old kids are finished products. Just like hitters with low power numbers. These things take time and Wentz will be back to sitting 92-94 consistently before you realize.

It is disgusting how much pitching this organization has. I understand that pitchers naturally fail at high rates but when you've accumulated this many top prospect types you are going to hit more than the average rate.

Albers is a victim of a tight 40 man. Hes deserved a shot far more than Blair or Wisler but those guys were on the 40 man.

Wentz is just beasting.

Lefty long reliever out of the bullpen?
