GDT 8/9 The infield of the future on display....

Phillips has looked pretty good over at 3b. Any chance we bring him back next year to play 3b and back up 2b?

My complaint about Swanson is that they promoted him to begin with and kept him up as long as they did.

I wouldn't have promoted him with the Camargo injury either since he's not been good since being sent down.

But somehow I don't think we have the same view there.

I have no issue at all with the braves promoting and playing Albies and Camargo from a development standpoint.

Financially it certainly might have been managed better but that's not nearly the bag of tears it's been made into either.
 
Albies was able to struggle and adjust to AAA. It was time for the next step for him developmentally and it shouldn't be surprising if he struggles, might as well get it over with this year. I might have jinxed him though by saying he won't hit .150 over a long stretch because he does better at making contact looool (although it hasn't been near 100 ABs).
 
Will hurt some to admit, maybe, but this team is as bad as most thought: ~75 wins, +/- 5 wins.
 
Hey at least we have St. Louis and Colorado next...we always have great luck there!! Julio in mile high will shut.them.down.

How can we say the Mariners are bad? They are professionals who have access to info we don't. We're just a bunch of board simpletons.

Actually, we have the exact same view there, which is a portion of what I am talking about criticizing the process.

The Albies move up isn't a major problem as long as he is going to be the starting 2B at the beginning of next season. The main issue I have with him is once again decisions seem to be being made based on reasoning such as "We need to see what we have" or "why not" as both Coppy and Hart have said in regards to recent moves, rather than being based on the player in question being truly ready. Albies was hitting .250 with a sub .700 OPS in his last 70ish ABs before being called up, so it's not like he was blowing the doors off and we decided to bring him up. From a control situation I don't think it matters, but it's not surprising to see him struggling a bit when he was already in a funk before being called up.

I have zero issue playing Camargo to see what we have there, but zero player decisions should be made based on his unsustainable BABIP driven success offensively this season. Ideally Swanson would have stayed in AAA until he showed he was ready, then Carmago would have moved to 3B, where he has shown superior defensive skills compared to short. Hopefully that still happens going forward.

I know many posi-braves think that a player either has skills and talent and are going to make it or fail regardless of what the FO does with them (not saying this is you here), but it's not true in the slightest. Every year there are players that leave their original teams after sucking then go on to have good success with another team that develops them properly. I think people are vastly underrating how poor handling by the FO can affect our prospects performance.
