Global Events & Politics Überthread

I can't see what part of bringing in a teenager whose parents are both dead, most likely from our war, who belongs to a religion that is prone to violence is considered a good idea.

It makes zero sense. The push is under a false sense of 'acceptance' but the reality is that these are further attempts to introduce instability into the West. Only with that can you radically change the way a society is managed.

EU paid for a report about the effects of digital piracy and when the report shows that in most cases it did no damage or even increased legal sales they just trashed it instead of releasing it because it went against the narrative they wanted. It's now only released due to an EU FOIA request.

I think we all know what happened here. Companies are bribing officials to do their bidding. There should be an investigation because someone is on the take here.

Your paranoia regarding this "secret takeover" of the US is, quite literally, reaching clinical thresholds, and I'd casually recommend you speak with a mental health professional and/or really meditate deeply on the state of your soul.

Having said that, let's take your deranged "secret takeover" hypothetical as fact. Well guess what: this "The West" that you imagine, and claim to so treasure, stole this continent and everything in it. Having it taken again, in turn, would be little more than just deserts.

But like I've said in the past: despite its grave warts, there's a lot I cherish about so-called western culture, and I've spent a good part of my life formally studying it. From my vantage, the folks that seem poised to hijack and destroy it are folks like you, spewing wild-eyed vitriol about "barbarian hordes" and operating exclusively from interior spaces of petty fear and impotent hatred. The best of the west has always been admixture and syncretism, openness and a (very slow) march towards advantaging every member of society; the worst has always been paranoia in the face of alteriety, and—in place of real conviction—a feeble and false sense of superiority. Please quit "honoring" my culture by reflecting its worst angles.

I'm sorry if you don't think that this world has always been run by the wealthy and powerful. If you don't think there are people behind the scenes pushing agendas then I think you need to reconsider the goodness of man. As for the 'barbarians'...Another example of the truth hurting. They are nothing more than that and deserve to be destroyed.

So called "Western culture" is now and has always been improved by the syncretism and admixture that jpx references. True in every wave of immigration and true today. Even in my little provincial town there are little corners of various cultural and national diaspora which have unquestionably added value of varying kinds including that most fetishized of all, wealth, to the bigger picture..Mexicans, South Americans, Syrians, Afghans. It's how we grow, it's how we evolve. Scaremongering isn't going to change that.

And ignoring the issue of militant Islamists and their impact has completely destabilized Europe. Congratulations.

I definitely think it mostly, if not exclusively, has been—but that by no means implies should be.

I do believe there are: the global capitalists who distract and divide us while they aggregate and segregate wealth into their privileged ranks—the captains of industry, robber-barons, earth-salters and sea-chokers, and even the kinder-minded nouveau-billionaires who'd lob a few crumbs of progressivism towards our lips, to ensure we'll then swallow a barely-mitigated capitalism and not see its very mechanics for what they are: the underlying causes of our ruin.

As for the 'barbarians'...Another example of the truth hurting. They are nothing more than that and deserve to be destroyed.

Seek psychological help or spiritual guidance. Seriously.

Breaking: N. Korea has right to shoot down strategic US bombers even if they aren't in NK airspace, foreign minister says

**** gonna get real if go to war with NK. Maybe it was a mistake to give presidents all those crazy war time powers. I bet Trump can't wait to have a downed pilot to go "save".

This is not going to end well.

Was it ever going to end well? They will only be a bigger threat 10 years from now. There clearly isn't going to be a revolutuon. Do you want to wait until they perfect their nuclear technology? Sure would be nice if we were not bogged down in 2 quagmire in the middle east.

The real question people are avoiding. War with north Korea now is terrible. It will be even worse in 10 years if we push the can down the road like the last 3 presidents did.
