Snitckers extent for 2018

It makes perfect sense for the new g.m. to pick his own manager. Which, if it's Moore, could be Ned Yost in 2019.

Really anyone here think that we really had a chance to get to the playoffs with the mediocre team? Dickey and Bartolo with 40 plus years. Garcia coming from injuries. Phillies the reds don’t even want him. Plus plus a lot of other stuff.

We need a lot of stuff to fix this team.

If we get a Chris Archer and solidify the bullpen with a veteran closer and a veteran set up man. Plus we need to continue cleaning the payroll. Stop wasting money with Markakis, Kemp and those old players.

I don't get the Snitker hate. It's not like this team underachieved. It didn't overachieve but it didn't underachieve. It achieved about its talent level.

I don't think anyone is upset about the record. It's more that he showed a lack of situational awareness in a lot of spots. Leaving guys like johnson in way too long, pinch hitting someone who had no business being at the plate. Just felt like he was over his head the whole time.

I know he was with bobby who had a little laid back attitude. But bobby got that way after re establishing a winning tradition. These current braves don't know what winning is or what it takes to get there.

That's accurate from what I've read.

From what I read players, McGuirk, JS and Cox were on one side and Coppy and Hart on the other. I guess Hart capitulated probably on grounds that the long-term manager (to the extent there is such a thing) should be left to the next GM. There is some logic to that.

Idk if the guy is the right man to take it to the next level or not. But the players talk about him in a very similar way to how they did about Bobby. That's got to count for something. I loved Bobby but he made some bone-headed moves over the years. But the team always performed for him. They haven't been good but their effort under Snit has never been a question. It was obvious they had quit playing for Fredi. All that said, if you really want a GM worth a damn, you gotta let him pick his guy. If it's Dayton Moore he may very well prefer Snit. But yeah, if we are just saying we need him to stay our manager because we don't need more uncertainty, that doesn't inspire confidence.

The snippet left out here is in the smaller print IMO - MLBTR mentions DOB's statement "adding there won't be a formal announcement of Snitker's return until later this week".

If DMGM takes the job and they're trying to figure out the details of how to handle it best for everyone involved to save face, they're not likely stupid enough to hire his Manager without his say-so.

As mentioned above, nothing's official...YET. If he's going to replace HART and Coppy, Snitker's not staying without his OK.

Aren't Moore and Snit pretty tight though?

One would assume, but I have no clue who could answer that - my guess is they're not closer than Dayton and Yost though, and Dayton's not likely leaving without Ned unless he said he's only continuing to manage for one more season to honor his contract.

I don't get the Snitker hate. It's not like this team underachieved. It didn't overachieve but it didn't underachieve. It achieved about its talent level.

I'm not hating on Snit. I'm indifferent to him. I'm hating on the supposed logic for keeping him.

I'm resigned to the fact its looking more and more that Moore-Yost will be our GM-Manager combo sooner than later. Out of all of Bobby's disciples, Yost has achieved the most and had the longest managerial tenure.
