Royals deny braves’ interview request of Dayton moore

It’s expected that lawsuits will be filed by Coppolella or Blakeley or possibly both, presumably because of how the Braves handled the investigation. I didn’t say “how the Braves threw them under the bus” or sacrificed Coppolella and Blakeley in an effort to lessen the punishment that’s coming to the organization, but I’ve heard others categorize it as such and, well, I’ll leave it at that.

Interesting morsel there from Mr. O'Brien. And rather ironic in light of JC's tendency to wax effusive about how lucky he was to have such great mentors.

Their legal theory is going to be .... those serious violations of major league policy that were reported in the news and resulted in sanctions -- well it wasn't thaaaattt bad and the organization just used it as an excuse to fire me because I had done a bad job building the team and I was disliked within and without the organization?

My guess is the legal theory has to do more with reputational damage due to how the Braves handled this. And he is going to have a hard time getting another job in the business. The question is how much of that is due to his own doing and how much is due to the Braves throwing him under the bus. Under this theory it might matter from a legal perspective whether JC was going rogue or following instructions. I bet Hart and the Braves are wishing they had been more generous with that severance package offer.

Royals holding out for compensation??

I don't blame them. Get what you can when you can. Smells of other "compensation" deals for managers, broadcasters, ect. They are in a rebuild again.

Yeah, this actually makes me think Moore is even more likely

Wonder if JC's attorney will depose Wren in an attempt to show a "pattern" of throwing employees under the bus.

They should really be interviewing guys like Hoyer (Cubs), Zaidi (Dodgers) and Frost (A's). Those guys are GMs but not final decision makers in their organizations when it comes to baseball matters. I'm sure the would all have an interest in becoming the final decision maker (whether their title with the Braves is GM or something higher).

If JS is pulling the strings, they're probably not going to hire anyone without connections to the organization. If it's Hart, they'll probably only hire a yes man.

Zaidi as president, McLeod from the Cubs as GM, Dave Martinez as manager.

Getting a key guy from the smartest organizations would be bigger for the Braves long term than any single player acquisition.

No doubt. This is really a tremendous opportunity for the FO to catch up.

This would certainly be best. If we have to get Moore I’d feel better about it if we got McLeod too.

What I don't get is that Hart's contract expires at the end of the World Series. Don't see him as a guy working for free, so why is anyone going to say yes to a man who is still a de facto lame duck? The Royals may be saying that they simply won't negotiate with the Braves so long as Hart appears to be calling the shots?

I think it's fair to say the Braves currently have the most incompetent and disorganized FO in all of baseball

it's been a shambles for a while...we just got lucky with Dave Stewart and a couple parting gifts from the ancien regime.

The real story would seem to be that Dayton Moore had some reason to be interested in interviewing with us.

Good. Dont want any part of Moore. Nothing about his moves in KC impressed me. He got lucky. He probably would get lucky again getting the credit for the games our current prospects are going to win in the coming years.
