What benefit do additional Muslims add to the US that we can't get from other places that do not bear the obvious risk of the....problems so prevalent in the current day practitioners of Islam?

Why wouldn't we be better off by suspending Muslim immigration and allowing more non-Muslim immigrants from Poland, South Korea, Costa Rica, India, or Ghana to take their place?

What are the positives that outweigh any increase in the likelihood of a greater number of terrorist attacks?

Jaw - They all know it deep down. Its the most obvious fact but their ideology will not allow them to agree to it. It completely breaks down the very way they see the world.

I don't have an explanation beyond the observation that discrimination based on religion is an awful thing not worth contemplating even as a thought experiment. It has been implemented as an actual experiment many times throughout human history (including in our own country by various institutions) and the outcomes have been lamentable.

He lived here for 7 years, got married, had kids and worked toward starting a business. It's entirely possible that he would pass any background check you could possibly give. The profile given there is basically the same as any mass shooter, except his wife wore a niqap. I'd be more interested in learning what led him down the path to terror than making sweeping national security changes.

When you look at the overwhelming percentage of terrorist attacks are perpetrated by Muslims it just makes sense to heavolt scrutinize Muslims.

I'd expect the same in any other scenario.

So why even bother with the article? It sounds like all you needed to hear was "Muslim guy does some things that Muslims commonly do."

No it was a Muslim doing things they didn't frequently do. Huge red flag whether your ideology let's you admit it or not.

It all still sounds a lot more like a dude who suddenly turned somewhat deranged. Even the stuff with his family has as much in common with an abusive husband as it would future terrorist.

What percentage of terrorism is perpetrated by Muslims? What about all other groups?

How is it even debate able that is makes sense to profile?
 
I worry about being killed by a random american with a gun

more than a muslim terrorist

and the numbers back up my belief that it's why more likely to happen too
