Church shooting - Sutherland Springs, Texas

thethe had a great point about "common sense" gun laws. Bump stocks are a great example. Momentum was there to ban them after the Vegas shooting, but the effort to define them broke the momentum. We couldn't just say its illegal to manufacture, sell, use, install, or possess any item that speeds the fire more than intended by the manufacturer. We instead had an effort to define a certain amount of rounds per second etc. We CAN make the laws simpler, we just need to combine that with an effort to make it clear to manufacturers that they want to help us instead of looking for loopholes.

I may be wrong, but I don't think an ammo tax would do much good if the goal is to stop psychos. It would curb honest sportsman shooters, but the mass shooter would just by a few hundred rounds on a credit card right before he self immolates.

Honestly I dont know if it would stop sport shooters. Some of these people live in 5000 dollar singlewide trailers and own tens of thousands of dollars worth of guns. These AR 15s that everyone flips out about are commonly over a grand each. They're for enthusiasts. Someone just intent on mass murder would be better off with a couple of hundred dollar Saturday night specials.

I know that wasn't very helpful. It's a complicated problem.

I wonder what the body count would have been if this guy just tossed a few gasoline fuelled Molotov cocktails in? Maybe with ball bearings or nails mixed in. Its really just too easy to come up with ways to hurt people. We cant stop this on the weapon side. Mental health is where its at.

that is why you go after the manufacturers.

Hold them accountable for profiting off of these murders

Ever seen how many weapons representatives are on the Board of Directors of NRA ?

Ever seen how many Sandy Hook families are represented ?

Nail their asses to the wall

The point is quite simple that the answer to these issues is the mental illness and not the object being used. Your solution to these murders is to pass gun laws.. laws don't change the morality of people

Laws don't change people which is why you look for ways to make it harder to do this type of heinous **** until we can start getting to the root of what makes people so crazy.

these and the every day murders - suicides, the cheating spouse murders , accidental shooting, false home invasion shootings

Shall i go on ?
..........

To my mind, 5 cents is too much.
What difference does it makeprofit from any and all murders, accidental shootings and gun suicides
How much did the tobacco companies make off of each cigarette that a lung cancer victim smoked.
I will spare you the Bryce Harper paraphrase
.....

Let me clear that, profit from any and all murders, accidental shootings and gun suicides

Speaking of "non-serious proposals"

What would "going after the mfrs" look like? The CEO going to jail? The person who physically built the weapon? The board of directors? The stock holders? The customers?

You're then in the corner of banning guns and confiscation of all in circulation? I'm
