Poll: Views of Democratic Party hit lowest mark in 25 years

Favorable views of the Democratic Party have dropped to their lowest mark in more than a quarter century of polling, according to new numbers from a CNN poll conducted by SSRS.

Only 37% of Americans have a favorable opinion of Democrats, down from 44% in March of this year. A majority, 54%, have an unfavorable view, matching their highest mark in polls from CNN and SSRS, CNN/ORC and CNN/USA Today/Gallup stretching back to 1992.

Dear Pundit Friends, please stop attributing this D landslide in VA to "changing demographics". VA hasn't changed that much since last Nov. 8 (Hillary by 5%). The bigger explanation is a backlash to Trump and Trumpism, pure and simple. #VAGov

Alongside Democrat Ralph Northam’s much-wider-than-expected victory margin in Virginia’s critical gubernatorial race against Republican Ed Gillespie, Democrats have also scored shockingly huge gains in Virginia’s state House of Delegates. So far tonight, Team Blue has picked up an astounding 13 seats, with many gains coming in well-educated suburban seats where Donald Trump has proven toxic.

It'll be interesting to see how that dynamic plays out along with what may happen in the blue-color strongholds that went for Trump.
