Hollywood/Political Sex Offense Scandals (Now Louis CK and AL-GOPSenateNom Roy Moore)

I really cannot pretend to understand the faux outrage over a 30 year old desiring to **** an 18 year old.

Let's face it, the weirdest notion here is that he sought family permission.

I cannot believe the faux outrage about Bill Cosby's belief that prescription sleep aids are sadly underprescribed.

Perhaps Moore should say he doesn't see anything wrong with what is described in the WP.

That's one.

There's a lot of physical and psychological maturation between 14 and 18.

Egh, sure, I guess.

But technically, most females have gone through puberty by the age of 14. And psychologically? That's so very relative that I'm hesitant to even touch it.

AoC is 16 in Canada (and Alabama/most of the South). It's lower elsewhere around the world. Teen is one of the most searched porn queries year after year. Christians glorify virginity. Mick Jagger is screwing some fawn 50 years his junior. There's some tacit standard of cultural embraciveness at play here.

Putting aside for a moment my dispute with the characterization of Moore as having 'serially dated' 14-18 year olds, I do personally find any predilection towards Lolita-types to be odd, bordering on disturbing. But I do think there's plenty of room to squabble over what truly crosses that threshold, and age, alone, is a horrible gauge to employ as a part of that argument.

I don't disagree with you. But I also don't have to pretend to understand the moral outrage of folks who have internalized these arbitrary designations as firm moral boundaries.

The instance I outlined (with two years of breathing room, in Alabama) shouldn't naturally go astray of any arbitrarily defined moral boundaries.

There's only one reported instance of Moore supposedly committing an actual (sexual) crime, which he has steadfastly denied.

Beyond that allegation I'm just not seeing a true case for moral outrage. Am seeing a lot of moral hypocrisy though.

For me, if he indeed merely had consensual relationships with teens above the age of consent, it's about the least outrageous aspect of an otherwise vile human-being.

I can certainly see that point of view.

But overreach on the sexual predator angle only serves to snuff out legitimate arguments against Moore as a candidate. And there are plenty of those. The problem is that they won't play in Alabama.

ButHollywood Loves Roman Polanski. You know the 44 year old who drugged and raped a 12 year older. Crimes far worse than Moore has committed.

i'll give ya a dollar if you can show how this has anything to do with the topic at hand of a talking about a person that is running to be a senator

since you know, he nor hollywood is running to be a US Senator

I thought Louis CK was funny but have to admit the last season of Louis and his stand up in the last year or so made me uncomfortable. As in, did he really say that uncomfortable

Was I the only one that thought him raping Pamela was , rape ?
That one episode forced me to see him differently.

Like who thinks that could be interpreted as entertainment or provocative.
It was a little too real.

Roman Polanski is good with lighting, stage craft camera angles as is/was Woody Allen.
I am skeptical of stories of Farrows. To the best of my knowledge, the stories of Woody come from Mia. ?????
Who is/was a piece of work in her own right.
Correct me if I am wrong

Let’s see....the thread title is titled ‘Hollywood/political sex scandals’ so I mentioned a story about a Hollywood sex scandal. Seems to fit.

You can keep your dollar though. You’ll probably need it to help with your move out of the country.

Raise your hand if you don't find a 30 something having relations with a 14 year old a non starter for elected office

HUGE: Mitch McConnell has asked Roy Moore to step down. "I believe the women."

and this:

Roy Moore is afraid to debate because:

1. He doesn't support health care for 150k AL kids.
2. He doesn't support health care for almost 1 mil seniors.
3. He doesn't want to answer questions about the $ he took from his charity.
4. His extreme views will hurt businesses.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is making a big shift from his original stance on Roy Moore’s history of preying on teenage girls. “I believe the women, yes,” McConnell said speaking to reporters in Kentucky. Not only that, Moore “should step aside.”

McConnell had previously run with the Republican talking point that Moore should step aside “if these allegations are true.” So what changed for McConnell? And is he all talk or is he going to take action to pressure Moore and deprive him of the resources he needs to win? If Moore wins, will McConnell seat him after saying this?
