I think the thing we all have to reflect upon is not so much rehashing the past but giving some thought about what the appropriate response is going forward when someone we like politically or admire exhibits this kind of behavior. The sad thing is predators come in all stripes politically.

For a really tough case, google Ronald Reagan and Elizabeth Taylor.

Not tough for me, since I already loathe Ronald Reagan. It's the Orson Welles allegations in that (pretty heavy on the unsourced rumor-mongering) biography that unsettle me more.

Beverly Young-Nelson alleged at a press conference alongside attorney Gloria Allred Monday that Roy Moore sexually assaulted her when she was a 16-year-old waitress. Through tears, Young-Nelson claimed that Moore, then-District Attorney of Etowah County and a regular at the restaurant, attacked her one night roughly 40 years ago.

"Mr. Moore reached over and began groping me, putting his hands on my breasts. I tried to open my car door to leave, but he reached over me and locked it so I could not get out. I tried fighting him off, while yelling at him to stop, but instead of stopping he began squeezing my neck attempting to force my head into his crotch."

More from her statement:

"I continued to struggle. I was determined that I was not going to allow him to force me to have sex with him. I was terrified. He was also trying to pull my shirt off. I thought that he was going to rape me. I was twisting and struggling and begging him to stop. I had tears running down my face."

"At some point he gave up. He then looked at me and said, 'You are a child. I am the District Attorney of Etiwah County. If you tell anyone about this, no one will believe you.' He then finally allowed me to open the car door and I either fell out or he pushed me out. I was on the ground as he pulled out of the parking area behind the restaurant. The passenger door was still open as he burned rubber pulling away leaving me laying there on the cold concrete in the dark...

"The following morning my neck was black and blue and purple... The day after Roy assaulted me I quit my job."

The smarter corners of the left aren't defending him. He has no real political value as an asset now, so its an easy call to sacrifice him for the sake of looking more righteous.

But I still find myself in Chrome most of the time. Google really is good at this whole internet thing.

I alternate between Chrome and Edge (heh). Chrome is heavy on system resources, but that has never been a problem for me. They rock the cross-platform game.

I appreciate and generally support the pro-privacy creed of Mozilla/Firefox, but that's really the only positive thing I can say about the browser.

But what is there to say negatively about it? I've used Firefox for years, outside of a several-year gap using Opera (in-browser torrenting was the big draw there; but also the ability to reopen with all the tabs that were open at closing, which Firefox now allows). I've always preferred it to Chrome—though that may just be my years of using the former—and Safari is a non-starter. So talk me out of it.

But so many people at the top of this christianity chain are clearly corrupt and clearly don't practice what they preach, roy moore being the prime example right now. he goes around reciting bible verses, claiming he's being persecuted for his conservative christian beliefs. he says these things, but does he actually believe them? what about those still supporting him? do they truly believe he's a godly man?

i shouldn't pin this on christianity. it just goes along with the power thing. but how could these people be in such denial?
 
What I would do if I was the democrats is take Roy Moore down on an oath of office violation as soon as he takes office. There is precedent as he was removed from the Alabama Supreme Court for violating his oath of office. He has made it clear throughout his career and this campaign that he will protect and defend the bible instead of the constitution.
