Russia Collusion Scandal (aka A Leftist fantasy)

Depends on the nature of the contact...it IS possible even at this exceedingly late date that it is all innocent

Yes, this is true and worth keeping in mind. On the other hand, the fact that Mueller was willing to deal in exchange for testimony implies that he has something substantial to offer.

A very interesting statement that can be parsed in many different ways.

It isn't, but I'm guessing Mueller isn't handing out plea bargains over totally normal conversations with foreign governments.

Trump has never been willing to accept boundaries. Unfortunately for him, this appears to have led to some transgressions that carry with them legal and constitutional implications. I think his expected time in office has been shortened quite a bit by Flynn's decision to cooperate with Mueller. It won't be long before it is all laid out. There is a public interest in wrapping it up.

One person familiar with the mood in the West Wing insisted top White House officials were breathing a sigh of relief.

"People in the building are very happy," the source said. "This doesn't lead back to Trump in any way, shape or form." The source noted that Flynn is being charged for making false statements, but not for any improper actions during the campaign.

"This is a further indication that there's nothing there," the source said. "This is a win for the White House."

A source with knowledge of the legal team's thinking tells CNN the Flynn plea "is not going to be a problem" for the President, though it could be a problem for people who worked with Flynn.

an interesting take on today's developments

Trump has always been prone to delusional thinking and I think the White House staff and his legal team for whatever reasons have decided to use this tendency for their own purposes.

Pence was smart enough to lawyer up a long time ago. Not sure this will save him. I don't think we've ever had a mess like this. The Constitution and our system of government are going to be stress tested in a way they never have been.

I wonder if the key players in this drama will decide it is in the country's best interest to "look the other way" when it comes to Pence's culpability.

That's a good thing to wonder. It's conceivable that if this keeps unfolding the way it's looking, then someone will need to be a stop-gap executive. Maybe Tillerson. Not sure how it might all play out. It's going to be fascinating and quite frankly, scary. I also fear that the threat of war may have just gone up...

Somewhat astounding that Mueller has basically not taken any bait, not engaged in any war of words, and has been completely silent to the media all while working on the biggest case in the country's history.

he's an adult and as professional as can be.

trump is the opposite on both counts.

any second now, Obama is going to jump out of his Putin Suit (Poot Suit, as we in the deep state call it to each other), and give a good ole GOTCHA!!
