Russia Collusion Scandal (aka A Leftist fantasy)

true. but retweeting something as vile as britain first is another level, even for him.

i don't think the insanity defense was on purpose. i think he's just dumb and actually losing his mind.

yeah...what we have here is a case of mental and psychological incapacity...pretty obvious imo...people in the administration including Tillerson, McMaster and Cohen have also indicated as much...we currently have a regency of sorts

I think its MSM giving a shoutout to MSM but this paragraph is interesting:

ABC News reported Friday that Flynn is prepared to tell Mueller's team that Trump had instructed him to make contact with Russia during the campaign itself. If those contacts involved the emails the U.S. intelligence community charges Russia stole from leading Democrats, then Mueller will have uncovered evidence of actual collusion between the president and a foreign adversary during the election. Impeachment could then be in the cards.

This is the keystone right now. They can bull**** their way through having lied about the transition.

It's a good thing he only hires the best people.

It's really telling that the best interests of the country are arguably served by letting the military (Mattis, Kelly, McMaster, potentially Harward at CIA if Tillerson leaves and Pompeo moves to State) call the shots. I mean, it's depressing as all hell and a terrifying abdication of our traditional norms, but sadly enough, it seems like the better option right now. That's really ****ed up.

But, yannow, tax cuts.

I'm all for a regency council! Let's do it.

They have worked some of the time.

What keeps going through my mind is what happens if Trump asks Kelly or Sessions to set in motion firing Mueller or pardoning Flynn. What do they say to him?

All hell breaks loose before they have opportunity to follow orders.

I guess Sessions can say he's recused from such matters. My guess is Kelly salutes and says yes sir and goes back to his office and does nothing.

The other guy who I keep thinking about is Rod Rosenstein. He's receded from public view. But he set the whole thing in motion by appointing Mueller. And it seemed from the start that he had a sense of where this was headed.

Yeah, based on this it's either brazening out a panoply of embarrassing chicken**** lies or battening down for Watergate 2.0.

It could be that what Flynn has to say is so devastating that things will play out much more quickly than Watergate. My guess is this thing is going to start unraveling fast now.

I keep coming back to these words:

“I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go."

I don't think Trump was acting out of compassion.

I wonder when VP Mike Pence, who was apparently so heartbroken at being lied to (or, you know, inadvertently briefed with an accurate information) by Flynn is going to weigh in?

If the latter, I think it undoubtedly will.

I keep coming back to the clip I posted months ago, from All the President's Men: "The truth is, these guys aren't that smart, and things got out of hand."

Like Nixon Trump attracted a bunch of grifters who enabled certain behaviors that a better set of advisers could have pushed against.

well, the bad news is the GOP got their payments to themselves and their donors thru before it all unraveled. they got their payoff for trump.
