2017 Winter Meetings Predictions, Rumors, And Actual Happenings

I would trade Wright for Yelich in a heartbeat. Wouldn't cost our entire top ten. No trade in the history of ever has cost a team more than three of their top ten guys that I can remember. If it gets absurd then I'm out, but I think it's something AA needs to be involved with.

You mentioned getting Yelich AND Archer though - not just Yelich.

Those are arguably the two best contracts in baseball, and would cost an absolute ton.

Passing on Headly at the price the Padres got him for puzzles me.

You wonder if it was a pass or the Padres came out so quickly and asked for so little in return that it was no brainer for the Yankees.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Padres flip Headley because he really makes no sense for them.

I'd pursue Yelich heavy but leave Archer alone. Move Nick to LF and play Yelich in right. Do anything to get rid of Kemp.

Yelich is a piece that could rapidly accelerate the rebuild. If we get some growth from Dansby and Albies and can hit on a young pitcher or two, all of sudden we have a window opening in 2019. Even the 2018 season is much more interesting with Yelich manning an outfield spot.

I'd tune in more if he were in the OF this year.

Guaranteed, if it ever happened, somebody would would post a rant on what was given up to get Yelich.

I call BS on this one. I doubt we’re only looking at 1 year stopgaps. We would’ve just traded for Headley and called it a day. This sounds like posturing to lessen the need and increase perceived value on Riley.

You guys are on it.

Headley is exactly what the Braves should have been looking to acquire if the goal was to get a 1 year guy without giving up prospects.

SD may trade him again, so he might still be an option.

However, AA seems to contradict himself every other sentence. In this case, if the Braves really wanted a 1 year guy at 3B they would have Headley...actions speak louder than words.

We have slashed the payroll

Jeter seems to be focusing on money. I’d take on Chen prado and volquez to get yelich.

Now I will make up a deal to get everyone mad bc I’m not calculating vale’s at 4 am bc my kids won’t sleep
Braves get
Chen-10, 20, 22, vesting option for 16. Less than 1 war last yr
Prado-13.5, 15. Zero war last yr
Volquez-13 million 1 war
Yelich

Marlins get
36.5 million bad money off of this yr, 35 next year.
I’d love to try and dump kemp to offset money but that won’t work.

Allard, Pache, Jackson mueller

Wouldn't it be amusing if we slashed all this payroll so we could take Prado/Chen in order to diminish the return of Yelich?

Slashing payroll to buy Yelich from the Marlins is a solid move if that's what's going on.

As Russ pointed out, there are many scenarios involving Chen, Prado, Tazawa, and Volquez that could lower the price on Yelich enough that it doesn't impact the farm too much. The Braves are so bad at so many positions that they could find playing time for all those guys, which can't be said for many other teams looking to acquire Yelich. If the Marlins truly are lowering payroll to $55M, dumping all those guys on the Braves might be extremely attractive.

Saw this on a twitter feed

Nsacpi was calling Ozuna to the Cards from the very beginning.

Yeah, good call. It makes a lot of sense as well. Another tweet said they're look at Longoria/Cobb as well. T

Add Longoria AND Ozuna to that lineup and they're in the heat of things.
