2017 Winter Meetings Predictions, Rumors, And Actual Happenings

From what I have gathered, scouts really seem to like Frazier's swing and bat speed, plus he has a lot of plus tools. But he has an extremely aggressive approach that can sometimes work against him. I've never seen the guy play, so this could be way off, but its kind of what I have read about the kid. He seems like a guy that just hasn't put it together yet, but is a better bet than most to eventually get there

I've never been particularly impressed with Frazier. Seems a lot like Adam Eaton but without the defensive chops. I get that we need good players regardless and he should easily be an upgrade over Kemp/Neck, but I guess I'm just not that enamored with him as a LF option and would prefer a better option if we're actively looking to trade for an OFer.

I don't mind the idea of going after Frazier but only if the price is right. Currently I get the feeling that Frazier is overvalued. The Yankees are one of the better teams in manipulating perceptions of their prospects.

Frazier is career .806 milb ops (1883 ABs). Gotta figure that will drop in mlb... why is he such a hot name? Would we really have to give more than Julio?

I’ve never been that high on Frazier. High K rate with middling power in a corner OFer. No thanks.

Astros about to sign Rondon.

That’s 6 (Morrow, Neshek, Hunter, Smith, Peralta, Rondon) of my Top 8 BP options signed as the part of the first ~10 BP arms to sign this offseason.

All that’s left are a couple of my BP conversion candidates.

Actually, looking at Frazier's minor league numbers, he was much more underwhelming that I had in my head. Must have stayed consistently high ranked since he was a top 5 pick, never did terrible, but still has all the sick tools that just haven't come together yet?

Yeah Frazier is a risk. He's got a low walk rate, high K rate, and mixed reports on his defense. He's also got a ton of bravado. That can be great or can cause you to stall out. You have to have humility to keep making the adjustments you need to make.

Yeah, I'm calling BS on bravado = won't make adjustments. Plenty of players to refute that. Case in point, Chipper Jones.

Carlos Santana to Philly for 60 million American dollars.

Odd. I guess they're pushing in and saying their contention-window opens now. I personally don't think they're there yet.

Nunez could be the best fit right now. He and Camargo are both versatile, which would be a great advantage. Hard to believe Cozart is not more highly sought.

Cozart just picked a bad year to be a free agent. His camp would be smart to be looking at 3B options. The Pirates may be a fit. I always feel like the Pirates don't actually want to win though.

3/38 for Cozart, not bad.

To play 3B...Ok, now people can start bellyaching cause that it very doable for us. If we're preaching defense and we have a hole at 3B and we pass on Cozart to play 3B I have no idea what we are doing.

Edit- I had to double check his splits to make sure there wasn't an assumption he would not fare as well and his Home/away splits are pretty close. This makes absolutley zero sense to me unless Austin Riley is the next Mike Schmidt

I think AA said we were looking for a 1 yr stopgap.

Makes perfect sense to me considering the Braves can’t afford to add a player making $13M per year.
