"Georgia's Lt Governor just announced that he fully intends to use the power of his office to illegally punish a private company:

"I will kill any tax legislation that benefits Delta unless the company changes its position and fully reinstates its relationship with NRA. Corporations cannot attack conservatives and expect us not to fight back."

Essentially a public announcement that he intends to abuse his government position to punish a private company for exercising its rights to do business, or not, with whomever it pleases.

And you caught the implication, right?

"Corporations cannot attack conservatives and expect us not to fight back."

Attack CONSERVATIVES.

Attack conservatives.

Delta severed ties with the National Rifle Association.

Cagle is saying in essence: Any criticism of the NRA is an "attack" on conservatives.

Thus: the National Rifle Association IS conservatives.

Honesty. How refreshing.

Republicans, always worried about government overreach, until they ARE the government. Then they just can't get enough government."

Very shameful indeed.

Reminds me when the IRS targeted conservative organizations under the Obama administration.

Weirdly, there wasn't a thread on that.

Meanwhile, this won't go through but I am considering selling my Delta stock (not like my ownership of the company amounts to much, though)

My favorite part of this is that the working theory for corporate tax cuts is to drive business and help people, right? So basically this dude is saying that because NRA members will have to pay the same price as non-NRA members he is going to punish the people of Georgia.

In a legal settlement that still awaits a federal judge's approval, the IRS "expresses its sincere apology" for mistreating a conservative organization called Linchpins of Liberty — along with 40 other conservative groups — in their applications for tax-exempt status.

And in a second case, NorCal Tea Party Patriots and 427 other groups suing the IRS also reached a "substantial financial settlement" with the government.

The consent order says the IRS admits it wrongly used "heightened scrutiny and inordinate delays" and demanded unnecessary information as it reviewed applications for tax-exempt status. The order says, "For such treatment, the IRS expresses its sincere apology."

For whatever it's worth, this probably aggravated me as much as it did you. Conservatism seems to be more of campaign topic than an actual ideology these days.

Trump voters like you, thethe, hawk have all criticized Trump and the Republican party. You do it consistently.

But I never see runnin, 57, or Goldy doing the same of the Democratic party

I grew up as a blue dog so being unhappy with both parties is kind of second nature to me. I'm probably closer to jpx on taxes than I am to anyone else on here.
Both parties fail me there when it comes to higher taxes on the absurdly wealthy. Both parties fail me on things like the Patriot Act. Republicans at least give lip service to cutting entitlement spending and mostly oppose enacting more.
Republicans generally appoint justices who (imo) do a better job of upholding the Constitution. My cultural positions line up well with the Republicans.
I'm okay with policy disagreements, but it riles me up when they just abandon their principles for the sake of convenience, like Cagle did here. Republicans seem more prone to that failing than Democrats.

Cagle could have handed all his governor's race primary opponents a ton of ammunition, but it seems the main competition is in lockstep with him on this.

13 people used that discount

13

The state of Georgia just made sure Amazon won't come to Atlanta over 13 people losing a discount and making sure the homosexuals can't adopt a foster child needing/wanting a loving family

**** the rural parts of my state that allow this garbage to happen

While I would love for Delta to punish GA for being dumb I doubt they will. Atlanta is the busiest airport in the country.

I doubt however we'll see anymore Jeff Francoeur commercials.

Did you ever do that thing we last PM’d about?

I would be up for Delta leaving Atlanta just so I wouldn’t have to listen to Mayor Kasim Reed welcoming me to town atleast 50 times over each time I’m through Hartsfield (which is the best airport we have in the US, sadly).
