Russia Collusion Scandal (aka A Leftist fantasy)

Most of this has been reported before but there's some new quotes and characters. And it claims Manafort was likely fired because he was not on board with using CA, while Bannon, the new campaign manager, was a VP and part owner.

Cloak and Data: The Real Story Behind Cambridge Analytica’s Rise and Fall
The secretive data firm said it could move the minds of American voters. That wasn’t its real victory.
by Andy Kroll

Not long after, they met with Nix in a conference room in the Willard InterContinental hotel, a stone’s throw from the White House. The meeting lasted more than six hours, Block recalls, as Nix described how they could use personality data and psychographics in American campaigns. “By the time he was done, I’m going like, ‘Holy ****,’” Block told me. “I had been aware of what Obama had done…But this seemed to be light-years ahead.”

The campaign had hired Cambridge in the belief it could use Ripon to help win Cruz the nomination; instead, it was paying millions of dollars to build the Ripon technology. “It was like an internal Ponzi scheme,” a former Cruz campaign official told me.

“They’re just full of ****, right?” Manafort said, according to Watts. “I don’t want ’em anywhere near the campaign.”

We use the same techniques as Aristotle and Hitler,” the consultant said. “We appeal to people on an emotional level to get them to agree on a functional level.”

“We called him
(Nix) Mr. Bond because he is English,” one of Oakes’ Indonesian employees told the Independent, “and because he is such a mystery.”

Unless there's compelling evidence that Manafort was turfed over the Ukrainian ledger, I stick with my previous opinion that his replacement with Bannon was primarily a sop to the Mercers. I think the ledger was just pretext.

I read an interesting bit recently about Pavel's recent court filings challenging Mueller's brief as being primarily aimed at finding out how much the OSC knows about the GRU hack/leak operation, with the probable intent of measuring how worthwhile it is for him to roll. 'Twas probably the reason for "person A" showing up in the van der Zwaan filing--a teaser purely for PM's consumption.

Anyway, the point is that Mueller's answers are due this week, so we may finally see some cards.

ANOTHER new character in the drama: Ted Malloch, detained at Boston airport and question by the FBI, apparently about Roger Stone

A professor and author who once presented himself as a possible Trump administration ambassador to the European Union was detained and questioned by the FBI at Boston Logan airport and served a subpoena from Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is probing possible collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign.

Ted Malloch said in an emailed statement to NBC News that he was flying from his home in the U.K. via Boston to Cleveland, Ohio to celebrate Easter when he was stopped Wednesday, an incident first reported by the Guardian.

NBC News has independently confirmed that Malloch was detained and questioned at the airport, but not the details of the encounter.

According to Malloch, when he exited his flight from London he was taken aside by a TSA official and an FBI agent, and separated from his wife.

Malloch said two FBI agents then told him he was being detained to answer questions related to the special counsel's investigation.

Mueller probing Russia contacts at Republican convention
: by Mark Hosenball

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Investigators probing whether Donald Trump’s presidential campaign colluded with Russia have been questioning witnesses about events at the 2016 Republican National Convention, according to two sources familiar with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s inquiries.

Mueller’s team has been asking about a convention-related event attended by both Russia’s U.S. ambassador and Jeff Sessions, the first U.S. senator to support Trump and now his attorney general, said one source, who requested anonymity due to the ongoing investigation.

Another issue Mueller’s team has been asking about is how and why Republican Party platform language hostile to Russia was deleted from a section of the document related to Ukraine, said another source who also requested anonymity.

Mueller’s interest in what happened at the Republican convention in Cleveland, Ohio in July 2016, is an indication that Trump campaign contacts and actions related to Russia remain central to the special counsel’s investigation.

I believe it has been established that Kilimnik was in Cleveland for the Republican convention and has made claims about helping change the Ukraine platform plank.

Who were his witting collaborators? I think that question alone is worthy of a very thorough investigation.

Also why did van der Swaamp try to cover up the Gates/Manafartov/Kilimnik nexus.

I would assume they would save the best for before the midterms. No point right now with Republicans in control of Congress. Unless Trump is caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy the Republicans won't impeach hin.
