GDT: gNats @ Braves Game 1 4/2

That was quick. At least he got some game-action while he was on the forty. And I'll always thank him for incidentally teaching me about the small but strong representation of Serbs in South America.

Venezuela has a bunch of them Eye-talians, too.

Braves select the contract of Anibal Sanchez and designate Miguel Socolovich

The Braves announced on Monday that they’ve selected the contract of veteran righty Anibal Sanchez and designated right-hander Miguel Socolovich for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man and 25-man rosters. Additionally, the Braves added trade acquisition Carlos Perez to the active roster and cleared room by placing righty Josh Ravin on the 10-day DL with a viral infection. The Braves acquired Perez from the Angels over the weekend in a straight-up swap for infielder Ryan Schimpf.

Looks like AA is going to make heavy use of the 10 day DL as some of us suspected.

waiver wire providing a steady supply

As the bellies lengthens that teams with the better depth will produce better results. The aggregate difference in wins and losses may be negligible. However, guys like Blair/Wisler/Sims should be kept longer than they would have 5 years ago.

We gonna need em. But so far the club has preferred Sokolovich/Carle/Ravin.

It is also worth noting that guys like Ramirez, Winkler, Moylan and Freeman (and I'm a fan of all four) were pretty much picked up for free. When you can do that it takes away some of the justification for focusing so much on pitching when drafting.

Here we go again - the park's empty as usual - or there's a whole lot of folks dressed as empty seats.

Gotta love Atlanta sports fans.
