GDT: 4/9/18 gnats

I disagree. When a guy like Scherzer is filthy you need to shorten up and start trying to have longer ABs. Get his pitch count up and you'll at least get a crack at a different pitcher. Our lineup hasn't even tried to put together good ABs.

You think they went up there not trying? As if they can just extend ABs at will.

I love reading comments like this from experts who never played above little league lol.

You are watching right?

He’s thrown 90+ pitches and like 30 for balls...he’s on tonight.

We just gotta crab our ankles and go after that little fruitcake Strasdoucher tomorrow.

92 pitches through 8 requires a lot of bad ABs. No shame getting dominated. There is shame in rolling over. We rolled over. Not even an attempt to get Scherzer out and get into their pen.

This is dumb. He's pounding the strike zone with filthy stuff. We're trying to get hits instead of striking out. He's really freaking good. This doesn't make a good combination for us.

I saw zero changes in approach. Just guys going up and trying the same thing. Someone should shorten up and try to foul some pitches off. Better to have a 6 pitch out than a two pitch out.

I kinda think the Nats performance was worse. Only 6 hits today versus washed up Julio, Moylan, and Jackson is pretty bad

It was clear very early on we weren't going to touch him. In that situation your only chance is to try to get the pitch count up. No change in approach from anyone. That's all I'm saying.

That’s the best pitcher in the game. Lucky to beat him last time out. Just beat that crying pansy tomorrow night and every thing is good

When Scherzer is pitching like he did tonight, not much you can do against him. Give him his due and go after Strasburg tomorrow.

How exactly do you recommend "changing the approach" against the back to back Cy Young winner who is pounding the strike zone with 4 plus pitches?

102 pitch complete game, one above the minimum faced, 10 Ks. Scherzer was dominant but man, that was a piss poor performance by the offence. Didn't even make the guy work.

You gotta go up there with the goal of seeing pitches and not helping Scherzer out. Stop getting yourself out early in the count. Shorten up with two strikes. Try to foul some pitches off. Basically do anything you can to make Scherzer work. If he has 100 pitches after 7, you get two innings against the pen.

I don't think that's asking too much.

And I don't buy the whole line about a pitcher being untouchable and not being able to do anything. Games like this virtually always have the dominated team doing the pitcher some favors.

Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to a future HOF player. We got him last time...not much of a chance to get him again that quickly.

Not even mad... I’m thrilled JT had a much better start. Maybe he can build on this one and do even better vs the cubs

I got no problem tipping the cap to Scherzer. No shame in having him beat you soundly. The 102 pitches and one over the minimum is the only thing to be ashamed about.

The most dominant I've ever seen a pitcher was Randy Johnson's perfect game and even that took him 117 pitches.
