Russia Collusion Scandal (aka A Leftist fantasy)

This quote should come with a flashing neon sign, "Things only a crook says."

Adam Davidson, of the thread I posted above and the New Yorker work on Trump's overseas deals, also noted, per his interviews for that piece, that much is made of loyalty in Trump's world, but that it is often lip-service. People were willing to speak to him on background provided their public-facing quotes were on the company line.

That makes sense. It lines up with anytime one of his sycophants is quoted or goes in front of the cameras. The first and most important thing is to praise The Orange One. Kellyanne is the master. She can pack 3 or 4 cheek pecks into one sentence.

His talent for inspiring loyalty from people is indeed impressive.

A Brief History of Michael Cohen's Criminal Ties The Rolling Stone

Cohen joined the Trump Organization in 2006, and eventually became Trump's personal lawyer, a role once occupied by Roy Cohn, Senator Joseph McCarthy's heavy-lidded hatchet man during the Red Scare who advised Trump in the 1980s. Michael Cohen's bare-knuckled tactics earned him the nickname of "Tom," a reference to Tom Hagen, the consigliore to Mafia Don Vito Corleone in The Godfather. He grew up on Long Island, the son of a physician who survived the Holocaust in Poland, and like Tom Hagen spent a childhood around organized crime, specifically the Russian Mafiya. Cohen's uncle, Morton Levine, was a wealthy Brooklyn doctor who owned the El Caribe Country Club, a Brooklyn catering hall and event space that was a well-known hangout for Russian gangsters. Cohen and his siblings all had ownership stakes in the club, which rented for years to the first Mafiya boss of Brighton Beach, Evsei Agron, along with his successors, Marat Balagula and Boris Nayfeld. (Cohen's uncle said his nephew gave up his stake in the club after Trump's election.)

*** It should be noted that The Godfather's Tom was not known for "bare-knuckle tactics". That would have been Sonny.

You couldn't be more wrong if you called the sun the moon. Explain to me how someone can be arrested and charged with resisting arrest only. Were the police investigating the crime of resisting arrest? A LARGE amount of a cops time is spent fishing for arrests to fill their quota... I mean performance minimum requirement. Literally the entire purpose of traffic stops is to go fishing for something to arrest a person over. What was it a week ago I posted a quote from the male Hillary Clinton lamenting pot legalization because it enabled them an irrefutable excuse to search anyone they want at any time. In other words fishing.

Off the top of my head relevant stories I have postes.

1 NYPD cop recorded his supervisor telling him he needed to arrest more black kids. The guys post was at a subway turnstill. If he stands in public view no one skips the toll. So in order to reach his quota he had to hide in a closet so people would jump the turnstile so he could make arrests.

While a DoJ official was in the car with a cop his supervisor told him to clear a group of black kids from a corner. When he tells his supervisor they haven't done anything illegal his supervisor says "I don't care, make it up".

Weird you left this one out... Don't turn into 57

Such a puppet

Right, I left it out because it was obviously what you were referring to.
It was first, followed by the other two. FWIW, I think the three tell a troubling story that doesn't have anything to do with Syria or Russia, but with the mentality and capability of the guy doing the tweeting.

To your point, though...your "puppet" argument is a facile distillation of one facet of the story, and certainly a straw man in this context. Concern about what happened in the 2016 election, and subsequently, doesn't hang on the allegation that Trump is Putin's puppet. If you want to argue that with someone else, suit yourself. Just realize how narrow that patch of ground is. Also, indulge me for a moment and explain why a mean tweet would invalidate the "puppet" hypothesis, anyway?

Oh sorry I've seen probably 50 cartoons of Putin controlling Trump by the balls, and how Trump never attacks Russia on Twitter.

But like everything else, we shift. We forget about that.

No worries. I understand TDS is real and it has taken its toll on ever bright people

I think Trump is oddly deferential to Putin, yes. I think the centrality of Russian relations during the campaign was bizarre and probably suspicious. I think there is at least a possibility that Trump is compromised in some relevant way that explains the above.

1) That's not a belief in your puppet caricature
2) A tweet wouldn't invalidate either a smarter or dumber iteration of this belief
3) Going with TDS makes it pretty clear you have no substantive response.

Rosentstein should be fired. Giving the approval for a warrant for the access hollywood tape information is an embarrassment.

My response was to the people on this board who have called him a puppet for 2 years.

It's nice you get to have it both ways though. When he doesn't tweet, he's a puppet. When he does, well that doesn't mean he's not.

Really getting down to the nitty gritty here. I suppose the National Enquirer is going to give us the scoop on collusion
