MINORS FINALS 4/12/18: New rule can't prevent long extra innings game

One thing that might be interesting to compare would be Riley and Jackson's swing this year v. last years. I've only been to one MS game this year but it appeared to me that both guys swing was more of a fly ball type swing. Maybe they have always had a fly ball swing but both guys seem to be hitting more doubles and Hr's so far this year. I may be wrong about this but I'm sure we have a poster here smart enough to answer this.

New hitting instructor for our minors I believe

Man if Riley keeps killing it and appears to be a VALID option for next year...they really “could” sign Harper. I mean where else are you gonna spend it? Bullpen? Catcher? All the sudden...not that many holes left.

Don't sleep on jackson as well. With each passing day/week/month its become more possible that 1B/2B/SS/3B/C/CF/RF are locked up and most of them at minimum rates. With guys like Gohara/Soroka on their way as well where can you spend money? Braves can heavily front load a deal with a buyout to entice Harper.

The deal makes a lot of sense and we will have as much financial flexibility as any team in the market.

Alex Jackson realistically is a more mobile Evan Gattis behind the plate...

The games in ST, while not being a comprehensive view on his defense, showed that he is plenty capable of handling those duties. Then you add the fact he has plus (maybe plus plus?) power and an improving eye at the plate you could be looking at a 3 WAR catcher at minimum price.

Camargo has DEFINATELY upped his power profile . He went like 4 years in the minors hitting like 10 hrs.

I think he settled in at the minimum as a 265/315/390 player on the cheap with good D. Decent player.

I really hope I was wrong on this guy

Will you be forced to say I was right again?

Still a long ways to go on both Riley/Jackson but I think we can all agree that their chances for above average production has gotten better in the last calendar year.

I'm not sure about again but if Riley turns out like we hope then I would acknowledge you were right about him.

Riley making it could REALLY put us in prime position. Just need Gohara, Wright, Soroka to come up and make something happen (and I think they can).

It would absolutely put us in play to pay someone like Harper 35-40M per year for the next 3 years.

This might be heresy, but why not just make extra innings sudden death at some point? Or just have a damn draw?

If the idea is to simply end a pointless game without endangering players what does it matter?
