I'm going to say injury.

However, the smart money is definitely on being rushed.

I'm not going to say it's foolish, but it is really difficult to judge a young player on September performance. It's real baseball, but if you're facing teams that are out of contention, it's real baseball played in 3/4 time.

Flaherty has been great, but Frazier is a reminder of what a good third baseman looks like. It really feels like a lost opportunity not to have signed him this past offseason.

I think you’re right. And to be honest I didn’t have high expectations for the team in the offseason so I didn’t care all that much about going after him. But given the strong start and how sustainable it feels, I think we would have been strong wild card contenders with him.
