Around the League: 2017 offseason edition / 2018 Season

Last August, I suggested Kemp could be semi-useful...

Kemp can be a contributor next season if he is managed properly and kept healthy. Subbing for him defensively late in games is a big part of that. They should be able to eliminate 10%+ of his defensive innings at the cost of very few PAs (~2%) if it's done intelligently.

So far in 2018, the Dodgers have done exactly that. Kemp has started 16 of their first 23 games. In those 16 starts, he has only played the complete game 6 times.

As a result, Kemp has produced BABIP fueled .896 OPS, that will certainly regress to to the .800-.850 range as his BABIP regresses.

As usual, the Dodgers are smart enough to use a player properly, and the Braves weren't.

I agree. Kemp likely won't keep up his torrid pace (I believe he also started fast last season), but Snitker had no idea on how to limit Kemp's exposure and get maximum value out of him.
