GDT: Braves @ Reds 4/26 (No Camargo)

We say this, but this has been a relatively quick rebuild compared to most other teams (And, no, that is not in anyway an endorsement of the Hart/Copollela regime.)

I think 2019 is the true first year of contention and have thought that for awhile. That would be year 5 which I think is pretty standard.

Again we are looking this good right now thanks to Albies and Acuna. Two guys that group had nothing to do with it. So while things are working out in what I would call a normal time frame it's in no thanks to them. Truthfully if they went full rebuild from the start we would be in better shape right now.

um, they didn't trade them.. so some credit is due.

This is year 4, which is the year some rebuilds make the unexpected leap to contention.

Contention this year or not, the window is opening.

If Riley pans out as a solid 3B option and Soroka/Gohara prove to be solid starters, this is going to be a very young, very cheap, and very talented team for a long time.

I was looking at the Cubs and Astros projections.

First 3 years, not so good.

Year 4 is when the Cubs/Astros broke through, following year they made the playoffs.

The Braves are following a very similar trajectory.

Let's just hope they don't completely fail in producing MLB pitchers like the Cubs did (by trading away young pitching prospects and signing expensive FA SPs). That failure is why their window is already closing.

Who are the best players on the team?

Besides Culberson?

Seriously, Wren deserves some credit, but there were a lot of moves before and after his tenure that have affected the composition of the team. And people need to quit acting like Albies just fell out of the sky. He was a top-fifty prospect the year he was signed and he signed for $350,000 ($250,000 behind Berrios who is no longer in the system). It's different with Acuna.

I think it’s mostly a good, solid joke and troll.

I don’t think they actually want to go back to never winning playoff series.
