GDT: Braves @ Reds 4/26 (No Camargo)

No - As I have states on numerous occasions trades and any player acquisitions that impact the major league team are all administered by the GM and VP of baseball operations. But hey, don't miss out on an opportunity to twist my previous statements.

Hart/Coppy destroyed the Olivera deal. Epicly poor judgement.

what about all the illegal signings...i don't believe those fall under your "impact the major league team" exemption

No it is not

of course not...thethe is just being thetherish...Albies was not some unknown player....he was one of our top 2 signings that year in terms of bonus pool...and GMs certainly weigh in on early draft picks....i imagine they are not involved in the obscure later picks, but they certainly get a vote on the picks in the early rounds

Any good organization doesn't allow draft picks to be driven by the GM who is not involved in amateur scouting. They are too concerned with the major league club.

all two of them that he drafted in his time here

I think he means like holding on to Hanson instead of trading him for at the end of his good years Peavy. Which by the way a lot of Braves fans wanted to do when that was an option. Wren held on to guys instead of constantly trading them to try and compete like JS did before he stepped down. And even then JS/Cox meddled in the Tex trade which was a disaster on both ends.

JS meddled because he was the VP of baseball operations. That position is what runs the show.

Agreed - The move was a terrible move. But 'meddling' is not the right word. Exercising his duties as almost all professional baseball organizations are structured now.

It is the right word. If you are stepping down as GM you need to let the new GM run the team instead of carrying on your philosophy of running a team into the ground after years of winning. He did it with the Royals and tried to do it here.

I'm sure Wren knew about Acuna/Albies before they were signed.

I know its a nice trolling attempt but deep down those of you who understand how a large company is run is well aware that Wren had nothing to do with those signings just like Coppy had nothing to do with drafting Soroka.

I live in a world where Wren personally allowed the increase of the offer for Acuna to snag him from the Royals.

ah the claim that is somehow factual but based on little.
most lists have us with 7-9 guys so...

It's a good farm system.

But let's not act like Acuna and Albies are the crown jewels of this rebuild. I'll give Coppy 50% credit for Swanson so there is that.
